The Thunder Rolls
Three
thirty in the morning
Not a soul in sight
The city's lookin'
like a ghost town
On a moonless summer night
Kouga's been gone for hours and hasn't called home to tell his wife, Kagome, where he was.
Raindrops
on the windshield
There's a storm moving in
He's headin' back
from somewhere
That he never should have been
The thunder
rolls
And the thunder rolls
He gets in his car and drives home in the rain, praying' that she doesn't know.
Every
light is burnin'
In a house across town
She's pacin' by the
telephone
In her faded flannel gown
Kagome's been pacin' back and forth in the living room waiting for him to call.
Askin'
for miracle
Hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the
weather
That's kept him out all night
The thunder rolls
And
the thunder rolls
She's
hoping' it's the weather that's kept him away for so long.
It's the third night this week its happened.
The
thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows
cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of
control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
She's
waiting by the window
When he pulls into the drive
She rushes
out to hold him
Thankful he's alive
She walks to the window just to see him polling into the driveway. She runs out without a second thought and hugs him.
But
on the wind and rain
A strange new perfume blows
And the
lightning flashes in her eyes
And he knows that she knows
The
thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
She
buried her face into his jacket and smells a strange perfume. She
pulls away from him and looks into his eyes searching for and answer
hoping' she's not right. After a while of searching' for
answers he knows she knows and shacks his head.
The
thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows
cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of
control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
She
runs back down the hallway
And through the bedroom door
She
reaches for the pistol
Kept in the dresser drawer
She lets go of him and runs into the house and to their bedroom and grabs the pistol.
Tells
the lady in mirror
He won't do this again
'Cause tonight will
be the last time
She'll wonder where he's been
She walks by the mirror and looks at her tear stained face and tells herself its for the better, and then runs back to him. Pistol in hand.
The
thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows
cold, darlin'
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out
of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
