Wizard's Chess

How long have we been here? Hissing hexes in the cold astronomy tower as twilight's enchantment changes your eyes to the darkest colour of emerald I've ever seen. This is delicious torment to be locked in battle with my equal, dancing the eternal spinning madness of bitter rivals and your steps never miss a beat. Hair flying, your breath whooshes out of you as a silky charm slides off my tongue and you hit the floor hard enough to draw blood. But not enough to stop. Just a swipe of your hand and you're back in the game meeting my every move with the perfect rebound as I match yours. I've never felt so alive! My heart is pounding with adrenaline and the desperation of the fight as I struggle simultaneously against the two halves of me that long for things so diverse. Part of me wants so badly for this to end, to admit defeat for the sole purpose of bonding you to me in a different form with secret kisses and forbidden touches. The other could not bear to lose this, the harmony of your pace to mine in the soft darkness and the feeling of being truly challenged.

One of us will do it. One day there will only be one move left to make on this board where we can only be dark or light and one of us will chose; to step back out of the game and be conquered or to take the final fatal step on the checks and wait to be accepted or hurled from his shattered throne in scorn by his enemy. But I cannot allow myself to do either and so we play on with wild hair and dark eyes and bruised bodies until the dawn.

I'm exhausted. My heart aches more than my injuries and I consider how easily you could crush it now if you chose so I must walk away from this game. I think you see my will begin to crumble because your tired eyes flare in a way I can't describe and suddenly you've torn me forward from my position to crush me against your mouth and urge me to met you in a new sort of game. The final move is made and all I can do is respond with as much desire as you give, clawing at each other frantically. So we battle even in this.

Checkmate.
