Chapter 1: Enter Blackjack

"ALL RIGHT, LUFFY-HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?" Nami snapped, stabbing Luffy in the forehead with a needle. "I said I was sorry!" "Sorry doesn't cut it! HOW THE HELL DID YOU LOSE ALL OF OUR MONEY?!" Sanji shook his head. "How are we going to buy food now?" All of the other Straw Hats watched the scene unfold, shocked at their captain's stupidity. "This really is unbelievable, Luffy," Ussop added, "Even for you."

"All right, Luffy-how did this happen?" Nami asked, holding the needle threateningly. "All right, all right! Let's see…when we docked in port, you guys left, and you forgot the money. I decided to go try to return it to you. But, then I met this guy…"

"Hey, buddy, c'mere for a second." A voice said. Luffy turned around, and saw a man sitting at a little stand. He had a hat on, sunglasses, and a white shirt with a silver vest. He had white hair, and a scar running down his face. Unseen by Luffy, because the hat covered his face, a sly little grin was spreading across his face. "All right, pal-you seem like an intelligent guy. Whaddaya say to a little game?"

"A game? What kind?" Luffy asked, interested. "Just a little betting game. 10 beris." He pulled out a little pebble. "See the pebble?" Luffy nodded, keeping his eye on the pebble. The man placed the pebble under a shell, one out of three. He then shifted the shells around, quicker than the eye could see. Once he finished, he said, "Pick one, and if the pebble is under it, you get double your money back. Miss it, and I get double." Luffy, the kind of guy that he was, didn't understand the bet, so he placed down the money. He picked the middle one-and it wasn't there.

"Tell you what-I'll let you try again and again until you win." Luffy, intent on winning, yelled, "All right-bring it on!" Hours later, Luffy had lost all of the crew's money, and never even got the trick-the pebble was glued to the top of the original shell it was put in. The man left his stand, preparing to put his newfound money in the bank.

Nami had become even more pissed after hearing the story from Luffy. "Ok, where is he?" "Huh?" "WHERE IS THIS GUY?!" Luffy jumped back. "I-I don't know-he left after I lost the money!" "All right, then-what was his name? We can question the locals about him!" Nami yelled, angry beyond belief. "His name? I think he said…

"The name's Jack Raxton, but around here, they call me BlackJack."
