I have a story to tell. It's a story that no one has told. Because no one knows of it. Everyone that did know it died, back in the rubble of the Nests building. Back at the end of the '98 tournament. Yes, the KOF tournament. Yes I know it didn't really happen. Just quiet and let me tell the story.
One critical piece of knowledge was lost that day, when the laboratory was destroyed. About how K was made, about what's in his blood.
They may have taken Kyo to be the host for all those clones. They needed him there to keep everything working. He was the base and centrepiece of Nest's operation. But those clones weren't all that powerful, when it comes down to it, not powerful enough anyway. They were not the ultimate creation. They were practice, prototypes really. Useful, yes. But not the ultimate goal of the project. The secret goal. For they knew that if they failed, their work would leave them in mortal peril. Even if they succeeded, they would be in great danger.
They made clones. And then they made K' You can't really call K' a clone.. not really. Clones don't combine the DNA of two people. . Sure, he may seem to be a mistake, a strangely coloured aberration of a clone. But there is something important that is left untold.
Kyo. Compared to the other contributor to K, Kyo is weak. Don't grump at me, I'm talking about DNA here, and you weren't there so don't lecture me.. Anyway, Kyo's body did not survive from birth against the burning pain of the Orochi, he might've been very different if he had. His blood is much purer, a stable neutral base, if you will, that would allow for the creation of a powerful hybrid. Kyo doesn't have the required.. 'flexibility'. K'.. K' is more than just Kyo's clone. He is Iori's too.
He was not a complete success, to be sure. A complete success, well.. a successful combination of those two families? Can you imagine? Double, no triple the strength of any other single person. A distillation. That would have been unstoppable. That's what they were aiming for, when they made K'. But he didn't work quite right, and then, of course, the records were destroyed.
Well.. it's for the best, I suppose. I don't think Kyo, Iori and K' would make a very happy family. Can you imagine the fights over which one is his 'mother'?
Still, it can be our little secret with no harm done. Personally I think the image of a pouting K' having ice-cream washed off his face by Mummy and Daddy is very cute.
Just don't tell Iori I said that.. Or K' or Kyo for that matter.. Or Athena.. OK, don't tell anyone. I value my teeth, not to mention my life.

I'm canny enough to survive the destruction of Nests, so you can be sure I'm above being found by the likes of you unless I want to. Goodbye.
