A/N: This ended up being more mushy than planned, but once you connect the pen to paper, there's no stopping what it ends up writing... This is the first fanfic that I've written, so please be nice!
This takes place straight where Nick left it.

The kiss deepened, and Aang's arms hugged Katara even closer to him. He had decided that nothing would ever come between them again. Nothing could make him be separated from Katara. Not now, not ever.
As the need for air became apparent, Aang slowly broke away from the kiss, but he made sure that they were still tightly wrapped around each other's arms.
"Katara..."
"Yes, Aang?"
"I... I love you."
Katara smiled, and sighed in reply, "I know. And Aang... I love you too."
The grin grew rapidly on Aang's face, and he knew that he had never been more happy in his entire life. He had to contain his excitement and resist his initial instinct of jumping for joy, as he knew that it would just ruin the atmosphere between the two.
They slowly took their eyes off of each other and faced the beautiful afternoon sunset, which glowed brightly, as though it was happy that Aang and Katara had finally confessed how they felt towards one another. As they stood there, holding hands and breathing in the afternoon air, both of them made a silent promise to the other, unknowing that the object of their promise was making the exact same vow.
I'll never let you go for as long as I live. I promise.
The comfortable silence that the pair had created covered the air around them for a time, but Katara's voice was the first to break through the silent air.
"I'm glad you're safe and here with me."
Still grinning, Aang replied, "Me too. I'm glad we're here together."
With smiles plastered on both of their faces, they turned and continued to stare into each other's eyes, hopeful of the future – with the newfound knowledge that as long as they had each other, it didn't matter what life threw at them, because they would be ready. As long as they were together.
A/N: Well? What did you think?? I know that was really short, but I wanted it to be short and sweet 'cuz if I wrote it too long, I think it would've just gotten really boring and lost its mushy-ness... review!!! I accept flames, and constructive criticisms!!! Thanks!
