Rainbow Dash was outside frolicking around her front yard. She didn't have anypony to play with since Gilda was away at a flight school. She didn't know how to fly yet either, and she wanted to awfully bad. She imagined herself flying above the clouds and touching the horizon. She dreamed of one day flying with the Wonderbolts, Equestria's most talented flying squadron.
Tired of being grounded, she made a very unprofessional ramp to try to fly off of.
"Come on Rainbow, you can do this!" she told herself. She backed up behind the ramp, gathered herself, spread her small wings, and ran straight on the ramp. Just when she was brave enough to jump, her mother caught her and shouted, "Rainbow! What are you doing?!" she grabbed her daring daughter and set her down on the ground.
"Mom! I was trying to fly!"
"That was very unsafe, dear. You're not old enough to fly yet anyway," nagged Windy Whistles. Rainbow frowned to the ground, and huffed angrily.
"Just wait one more year sweetie, and then you'll be able to achieve your dreams."
The young rainbow pony sighed, "But what if I'm not around for another year?" Windy Whistles grew very upset and looked her daughter straight in her eyes.
"Don't ever think or say that Rainbow! Do you hear me? Not ever again!" she scolded. The young daughter laid her ears down and looked up at her scowling mother. Who of which, loved her very much. "And I'll always be around as well. As well as your father. We're so proud of you. Best daughter ever!" Windy cheered.
This made Rainbow Dash smile. A year wasn't that long. She can continue practicing her wing exercises while she waits and her stances.
"I can still practice right?" the rainbow pony asked politely. Windy beamed warmly.
"Of course dear." And she hugged her daughter. Rainbow scurried on into her cloud home, off to read all about flying necessities. The proud mom, Windy Whistles, smiled and watched as her brave and adorable daughter ran into the house.
