A/N: Set in season six, sometime after Wrecked. Spike takes Buffy to another demon bar. I'm not sure why he's doing the open-mic thing, but eh... just go with it. :D Not betaed, 261 words.
Fire
"…'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire."
Buffy could feel his gaze on her, burning in its intensity as she took a seat. She nodded to the scaly-demon behind the bar and he handed her a drink. The liquid burned as she swallowed and she finally allowed herself to look up at the makeshift stage, not surprised in the least at the way his eyes were fixed on hers.
"…you had a hold on me right from the start, a grip so tight I couldn't tear it apart."
She shivered, the lyrics of the song hitting a little too close to home. She hated it. Hated him for doing this, for thinking he loved her.
The demons in the bar seemed to be enjoying the performance, waving their arms in the air and cheering, but Buffy paid them no mind, her attention focused solely on Spike and the far-too-sensual way he was caressing the microphone stand.
She felt it then, that little frisson of heat in her lower belly that Spike had no right igniting. It twisted and burned as she watched him, the look and sound and sight of him sending tingles down her spine.
He met her eyes once more and a slow smirk spread across his face. "You say you don't love me, but I know you're a liar. 'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire."
The spark lit, the flames ignited and later, when he had her pressed against the wall of his crypt, his mouth hot and hard against hers, she could do nothing but let it burn.
***
The song in this is 'Fire'... and I have no idea who sang it first. But James Marsters has a cover, you can find it on youtube. I altered the lyrics just a little to fit more with S6 Spike and Buffy.
