The set sun cast everything into a shade of blue, but when I turned, I could see the orange flickering into the sky. Down the road, the city we'd just come from was burning, flames licking it like a hungry dog.
I stared at it with wide eyes, taking it in, wondering why I could feel the sight hurting me deep in my chest. Was it important? I thought yes. I thought that for some reason I didn't understand, the burning city was very important to me.
Should I be leaving it?
"Come on, Arthur."
I turned at his voice, kind but commanding, seeing his face twisted into a smile. He said we needed to go, and he wouldn't tell me to leave the smoke-strewn city unless it was right.
I followed him.
A/N: This seems like a random drabble, I know. But I'm not gonna lie, this part of the episode hits me right in the heart. Every time. Arthur stares at that city like he's watching his love cry for help but he can't hear the words. He knows he's losing something but he's too dim-witted to know what. Because Merlin temporarily stole that from him.
