Written for the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Defense Against the Dark Arts Assignment #3 - Write about someone protecting someone. (I also hope this qualifies for the Extra Credit)
The Battle of Hogwarts ensued, Light fighting the Dark. Professors, students and alumni alike fought for the defeat of the Dark Lord and the triumph of the Light. It hadn't been easy for Filius Flitwick to see the young students of Hogwarts perishing in the hands of merciless Death Eaters, sick smiles playing in their bloody lips. He felt his blood boiling at the sight of bodies piling up in the Great Hall, some of them his students and some were familiar faces in Hogwarts. How could Death Eater be so heartless? How could they bear killing young children?
Filius had a fair share of deaths on his hands that night, too, although it was for defying He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's advances in the Wizarding World. He was a lucky man for being part goblin, catching unsuspecting Death Eaters with his curses in surprise. He roamed the Halls, helping students who have had a hard time defeating their attackers.
The Charms Professor saw Fenrir Greyback approaching a small group of First Years who barely have wands on their hands. He charged towards the werewolf, shouting, "Don't you dare lay your hands on those children!" Filius jumped high in the air, adrenaline pumping in his veins, tackling Greyback and firing curses at him in close proximity. He pulled on the werewolf's hair and closed his arms around his neck until Greyback was disarmed, falling down the uneven ground with a sickening thud.
The students before him cheered at the Charms Professor. Filius himself felt utterly proud of himself for having protected a group of students against somebody like Fenrir Greyback.
Maybe this incident would replace winning the Wizarding World's Best Dueler in his heart.
