Veela Attractions

By: Anmylica

This is a short continuation of "Animal Magnetism" that I thought of when I re-read that one-shot. Can be read on its own, but makes more sense when read as a companion to "Animal Magnetism."

--------

Victoire was more like her mother than anyone ever realized. She didn't have that Veela blonde hair, nor did she exude that aura that her mother had. She was a strawberry blonde with light blue eyes and a very pretty smile, but that was where it ended.

She had attended Hogwarts instead of Beauxbatons. She had been in Ravenclaw and had been a Prefect. She never made Head Girl, but she worked hard. She didn't play Quidditch much, and she hated wizarding chess. Her mother, of course, had been the Beauxbatons Champion, the smartest witch in her class, and she loved a good Quidditch match in contrast.

But there was one thing that Victoire had in common with her mother, and that was her attraction for one Teddy Lupin. He wasn't a werewolf, at least not really. He was more like her father, instead wanting his meat to be more rare than was normal and had that customary allergic reaction to silver. He often felt slightly down every time the full moon came around, but he never transformed. Victoire herself exhibited a few wolfish traits, preferring her meat to be rare as well (although perhaps a bit less raw than her father and Teddy). That was about the only sign that pointed that she was the offspring of a half-werewolf.

Her mother, upon finding out that her daughter was interested in Teddy as more than a friend, had smiled and merely said, "It is ze animal magnetism."

Fleur had told her daughter about Teddy's mother, and how she too had been attracted to the werewolf. She had been a metamorphmagus herself, just like Teddy. Fleur had gone on to explain why people were drawn to the dangerous, but Victoire had never truly understood what her mother meant.

Now, though, she had an idea. Only, was it her who felt the magnetic pull to the animal inside? Or maybe it was him? After all, she was a part werewolf, and he was a metamorphmagus. Then again, she was part Veela and he was part werewolf. There was the dilemma in itself. Who was it that exuded the animal magnetism?

"Victoire!" Teddy called from down the stairs. "Come on, we're gonna be late!"

With a jump, she realized in her reverie that it was almost half past six, and that it was time to leave for her date with Teddy. She grabbed her jacket off of her bed, threw her door open, and dashed down the steps to his grinning face. His hair was a bit on the long side today and it was black. His eyes were the customary black, twinkling with a smile. She almost ran to him, and hugged him. He returned the embrace and pulled her back long enough to draw her into a sweet kiss.

He withdrew after a moment, and said, "Are you ready to go?"

Breathless, all she could do was nod the affirmative. As she waved good-bye to her parents and stepped out the door to where Teddy had parked the flying motorbike that he sometimes borrowed from Harry, she briefly decided that it didn't matter who exhibited the attraction to each other. In fact, she was sure it had more to do with werewolves being attracted to other special magical beings, instead of an animal magnetism pulling other magical beings to werewolves.
