Something wasn't right. Jack could feel it, it pulled him from his sleep. He reached across the bed, his hand encountering only cold sheets. He could feel the hairs on the back of his neck rise, and his muscles tense. He opened his eyes, looking around the room. Moonlight spilled through the open curtains, sending a splinter of silver light across the room. He waited a moment, his eyes adjusting to the light before he pushed himself from the bed. His feet shuffled along the thick carpet as he walked through the apartment towards the light of the kitchen.

"Liz?" he asked through a yawn, as he walked through the doorway.

"Jack!" The reply was muffled as she spoke around a mouthful of food.

"What are you doing?" he asked rubbing his forehead.

"I was hungry." She shrugged, turning towards him, smiling as his eyes automatically checked her over.

He snorted, looking at the clock on the oven, "At 4.08 in the morning?" he asked. "For what?"

She smiled up at him over her shoulder as he stepped towards her, pressing his chest against her back. He rested his chin on her shoulder and looked down at the concoction she had laid out on the counter.

"The perfect midnight treat.. Noodles" she smiled, letting her head fall back against his shoulder with a sigh as his hands smoothed across her swollen stomach.

"With chocolate sauce?" he asked.

She laughed at the sound of disgust in his voice. "It's what the baby wanted." She protested softly, "Gonna be smart like her Momma."

"Gonna be smart like his Father you mean!" he smirked. Turning and pressing a kiss against her neck as she laughed in reply.
