Trapped in Memories
Stan leaned in towards Kyle, nervous but excited, and Kyle couldn't feel anything but the same way. Maybe it was a bad idea to be romantically attached to your best friend, but Kyle didn't care what anyone thought as he leaned in as well, kissing Stan for the first time. Some people don't believe in magic, but that night Kyle knew it existed....
Kyle's eyes filled with tears as he stared into the coffin of Stan Marsh, hating the world for what it'd done. He didn't want to live in a world without Stan, but he didn't seem to have a choice. A comforting arm was placed around Kyle's shoulder, but he only felt cold to Kenny's attempt at help. Nothing could make him happy, not now....
"Kyle – look!" Stan yelled excitedly, as a shooting star went by in the sky. "Make a wish...." Kyle didn't care much about the star, but he still made a wish for the sake of it. As Stan met Kyle's eyes, Kyle couldn't think, all he knew was the one thing he'd always felt about Stan.
"I love you."
"I'm glad my wish came true...."
There would be no more stars to make wishes on, no more times to laugh and joke with Stan. Why had Stan done it to himself? Why did he have to care so much what everyone else thought about him? Kyle sadly stared at him, his deceased love, who just had to smoke one too many cigarettes.
"I know it's crazy, Kyle, but I want to be with you forever.... I want to wake up each morning next to you, not have to worry what anyone'll say...." Stan had his arms around Kyle's waist, as the red-haired boy knew exactly what he wanted to say.
"Stan... I know we're only eighteen... but will you marry me?"
"There isn't a doubt in my mind."
"We could've been so happy for so long...." Kyle whispered quietly to Kenny, as he fixed his eyes on Stan's lifeless body. "We could've had such a happy future together, why did he have to go? I would've rather it been me...."
Kyle didn't want the memories to go away, they were the happiest times of his life. Stan may be gone physically, but all of Kyle's heart still had Stan's memories. Everyone had left the funeral but Kyle now, and the coffin remained open, and Kyle leaned down to kiss Stan's cold dead lips just one last time.
In years to come, Kyle still visited Stan's grave, leaving flowers, and tracing the engraved words:
'Stan Broflovski'
