A/N: So I know Lena has nightmares in the story, but I mentioned that she loves dreams. I put reasoning in there, but if it's totally off...well, then it's totally off. Sorry.
Dreams are confusing things. They can be realistic or completely crazy. Some can be sweet and others can be tragic. One of the things that confuses people the most about them, though, is that there is always one that comes along at some point and makes you believe that it was reality. You wake up and go about your day trying to remember if the events in your dream have actually happened in your life before.
Love is also confusing. It actually can confuse others in almost the same way. The feeling of love can make you feel so warm inside, like there's nothing to worry about. It makes you think of how beautiful the world really is. But love can also leave you cold inside in the end. Once it's gone you see things differently. It changes the way you look at certain things forever.
Lena became so aware of all of this after she met Alex. Somehow she didn't mind any of these things about dreams and love. They made her believe. They made her believe that she was back with her mother again; that she was with Alex, reading poetry and kissing. Love made her feel hopeful like she wouldn't ever have to get the operation; like she and Alex could be together openly; like her mother could sing and dance with her again; like Gracie would grow up to speak and know about the beauty of love.
All of this could happen in her dreams. Maybe, she thought, just maybe if she kept dreaming it really would happen. Somehow, someway her dreams would come true. She just had to hold on through the ups and downs. She just had to believe in the power of dreams and love.
Though there was one thing that she always had to keep in mind: Dreams are powerful things but, in the end, love is still the most powerful.
