Title: God is Gracious

Author: Me, Megan! Also known as PITAchic

Rating: G, I guess.

Summary: Their meanings are the same, yet one meant so much more to her...

Disclaimer: I don't own crap. If I did, I most likely would not be writing fanfictions. Though, Adam is a total cutie, so I would love to have him!

Spoilers: Takes place after "The Devil Made Me Do It."

Feedback: Please be gentle on the flames, this is my first Joan of Arcadia fic.

Author's Note: As mentioned above, this is my first JoA fic, so it might suck, especially because I haven't written anything in months. It's very short and kinda angsty, but I couldn't think of a way to make it much longer. I have another JoA fic in my head, but I need a muse, so e-mail me at PITAchic13@yahoo.com if ya wanna chat! Anyway, this just kinda popped in my head after this last episode (on 1/9, no clue what the name of it is). Wasn't that just a sweet episode? Adam and Joan are so cute! Okay, enough of my babbling, on with the fic!

~*~ God is Gracious ~*~

Joan.

To most people, the name Joan means plain, serious, and boring. And she'd always agreed. She personally wanted a more exciting name, something less... well, Joan.

She did, however, find it humorous that her name meant "God is gracious." Maybe that's why God had chosen her to talk to, but come on, there had to be other Joan's in the world.

And then Adam Rove came along and called her Jane.

Jane.

Not much better than Joan. The first thing that always came to her head with the name was the whole "Plain Jane" thing. But she eventually realized that she enjoyed Adam calling her Jane. With him, she was anything but plain.

Because when she was with Adam, she wasn't Joan, the one who talked to God and who's family thought she was slowly going insane, and could very well be right. She was Jane, a name who's meaning is also "God is gracious," but a name that seemed to change her, and for the better. She was someone special, someone who looked at the world differently, all because of Adam. This was the closest she'd ever been to being in love with someone. All because she went from Joan to Jane. Their meanings are the same, yet one meant so much more to her...

And then came the horrible day, after destroying his sculpture, that Adam called her Joan, and her heart broke. She was once again the girl that God talked to, the girl who's family thought was crazy, and now the girl who's best friend hated her.

She was Joan.

Joan, who always seemed to messed up.

And she would do anything to be Jane again. Unfortunately, the only Jane she'd ever be again was "Jane Doe," because according to Adam, he didn't know her. He never did, he said.

And Joan Girardi now contemplated as to whether God was so gracious after all.
