Shakespeare moment below! Well, sort of.

Midna sighed as she laid down for sleep on the soft sand outside Arbiter's Grounds. She could see in every direction, so she knew they would be safe.

It took a lot of convincing to get Link to leave his battles and rest. He was determined to get through this freaky sand temple, and he'd rather get it over with. He didn't want to sleep, and therefore kept ignoring Midna pleading him just to rest.

"I'm tired. Let's sleep," Midna suggested.

"No. We have to find the boss. I can't quit now. We're too close."

"You said that in the water temple, and ended up not sleeping at all, and then collapsing from exhaustion. You think the people of this world like having their Hero die out?"

"So you think they'd rather let me sleep on the job," Link muttered. It was a statement, not a question.

"Well then they better suck it up, because at least someone out there is doing something for them!" Midna yelled, and then quieted. Link didn't know she was the Twilight Princess, and didn't care for him to. The last thing she needed was him getting suspicious.

"Midna, I have a job to do. Leave me alone. This is for the Twilight Realm too, so let me be."

Midna groaned, grabbed his sleeve, and tried to warp out. Of course, since this was a temple, she couldn't. Link smirked.

So it took getting injured one too many times for Link to finally agree to rest outside of the temple. They made camp where the bublins did out in front, started a fire, and let themselves sleep. Link was knocked out, completely vulnerable, so Midna vowed that she would sleep with one eye open if that's what it took.

Why was Midna being so nice to him? Why did she resist Zant's tempting offer to let the Twilight rule over Hyrule, choosing Link instead? Why did she lay her hand upon his cheek, begging him to go with her?

That night, Midna dreamt of the future: when her curse would be broken when they defeated Zant. She would be tall and beautiful again, not short and stubby. She wouldn't have an evil grin plastered on her face anymore. She would be the Twilight Princess.

She had a beautiful dream. She and Link stood facing each other, as this was their final goodbye. Link didn't know what Midna was about to do, and neither did she want to do it. But when they found this Mirror of Twilight and she was beautiful again, she would destroy this bond, hoping to secure the peace of Hyrule and the Twilight Realm forever.

She was on the platform, about to say something, anything, to Link, when he walked up the steps to her, wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her on her lips…

Midna shook herself awake. What was this?! Could she really have dreamt about that?! She blushed when she remembered it. It was almost as if she could feel Link's lips on hers from her dream. She looked over at him, to make sure he was still asleep. His chest rose and fell every two seconds, a sign he was deep in a dreamless sleep. She walked over to him, staying by the remaining cinders of their previous fire, and looked at him. She felt awkward, just staring at him, but she wanted to kiss him, just to see if the way the dream felt was in any way like reality. But she didn't, and went back to her hole she burrowed into while she slept.

Deciding she was cold, an idea popped into her head. She took out the orange and black crystal that transformed Link into a wolf. With a grin, she walked over to him again, and lifted his hand to it. With a burst of Twilight magic, he was a wolf again with the strange mark on his forehead. She nestled into the warm fur, and Link woke up. He put his head next to hers on the ground, and Midna caught a smile. She kissed him on the nose and she blushed.

But it just wasn't the same.
