Gibbs

You look at the ruins of the building. You also see two skeletons in the middle of the rubble.

You regret sending them to that place and you regret ignoring Tony's gut feeling of danger.

You cannot breathe as Ducky looks at you and tells you the dentals match. You see McGee and Abby crying and you save your tears for later.

None of you will admit it but you are crying slightly more for Tony than Ziva- it's nothing personal but you knew him longer. He was McGee's friend, Abby's brother, Ducky's ear, and your senior field agent. He died keeping his promise that he said daily, he was on your six. You go to the funeral and aren't surprised to see that, besides the team, most of them are for Tony.

They are all cops and their families. You all go back to your place and are sitting around telling stories about Tony. The cops tell of the time he took one cop's CD player and put Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray on repeat. You also tell stories of Ziva and are surprised to see that some of them know her. Or, rather know of her. He talked about her they say.

After they leave, you feel hollow. You have lost your surrogate daughter and the best damn agent you ever had. Obliterated by a stick of dynamite and a guy with his head messed up.

It's then you remember the way they flirted. He talked about her the cops had said. They way they had smiled at each other. He had been in love with her. It was right there in front of you and as usual you missed it.

Life goes on and you get two new team members, they are not Tony and Ziva.

Not even close. You miss her keen abilities and stealth. You realize that there had been purpose behind the humor; Tony knew what he had been doing. He had good intent and a gut that sometimes rivaled yours. You miss them.

In the midst of all the tragedy, there is a wedding.

You happily walk Abby down the aisle in her dress.

It is white and that surprised you, she replied by saying that when she is old and grey she does not want to look at a woman in a black dress.

That and she did not want to mess with tradition.

McGee looks good in his tux.

You look over at the side where the best man would be standing and remember McGee's decision. He had said that his best man had died a year earlier.

They go on their honeymoon.

McGee

You and Abby arrive at your hotel. You are so happy to see the ring on her finger.

The next day, the two of you go exploring. You both see something and call Gibbs.

He knew it, you knew it and some of his friends knew it, too.

A couple days later, you and Abby are walking toward the casino, when you pass a couple.

Everything then seems to slow down.

You, Abby, and the couple turn around.

They smile and so do you, there is a glimmer of recognition in all of your eyes. Tony smiles, puts a finger to his lips, then wrap his arm around Ziva's waist and they keep walking. You watch as the both of them keep walking as if they haven't a care in the world. They probably don't. The world thinks they're dead. Death has given them a new life.

How did you like it? It was inspired by X5thAvenueX's story, Counting sheep, and people, and moments. Tell me what you think. I love reviews!
