Batman

The Return

Prologue

It's been five year since Gotham had Bane's reckoning. Five years filled with rebuilding. Five years of crime on the rise. Five years since the Batman gave his life. Most people were glad they survived another mad man trying to destroy their city. First there was that bloke who broke everyone out of Arkham asylum and Crane's fear gas. Then the Joker. Most people were still trying to get past the horror left behind by the Joker even after thirteen years. Then the worse. Bane. For any city to go through just one of these things is unbearable let alone all of them. The people of Gotham were a tough lot. Batman posers were pouring out of the wood work, but like the bat wannabes there were others. The Jokers run everything from Arkham Asylum and the narrows. Twosiders who controlled the south and west sides of Gotham. Every choice this gang made was by flipping a coin. The eastside was under the rule of man known as black mask and the posh north end was ruled by the deformed Cobblepot. The worse of all was some vigilante killing criminals and taking take products, from drugs to guns. The only clues they had was a calling card left behind on the bodies of his victims. The card was soaked in the blood of the dead and always had the same message written on it. Let the price fit the crime. Break the law, I'll come for you.

Blake had only been back in Gotham for the last six months gathering all the info on Gotham he could. He spent the last month learning the way the city moved and tested his suit, adding and removing this and that. The words from Batman stuck in his head throughout the making of the suit. In the cave Bruce left him he found a spare bat suit. He removed the ears off the cowl and removed the cape from the back and fitted it between the wrist guards to just under his utility belt to make it harder for people to grab him from behind. The biggest changes were the bat logo on the chest. Painting it blue and extending it over his shoulders, change the bat head to some form of a bird and strapping to batons to his back. Gotham's new knight was ready to take to the street. This was the night he would reveal himself to his people. For years they have wanted the Batman back. They would just have to make do with him. They would just have to have to make do with Nightwing.
