E/o Challenge - the word is "Shoe". Set during Season Three, who knew a dropped piece of footwear could stir such emotions. BDABR, from Dean's pov.

Spoiler Alert: Set during "Bad Day at Black Rock", and you all know what that means.

"What?"

"I lost my shoe."

And as I stare at my brother, all of a sudden he seems to shrink right in front of my eyes. He's not in his twenties now, not an established Hunter anymore.

He's not ginormous Sam.

All of a sudden, a dropped shoe has turned him back into five-year old Sammy again.

Sammy, who believes big brother Dean can make everything right again.

But I can't.

Not now.

I turn away, feigning annoyance, because I won't let him see the panic in my eyes.

Sammy, big brother can't fix everything.

He can't even fix himself.
