Hello everyone, My name is Nicole and I've been a member of FF since I was in middle school and this is the first story I've ever posted, but hopefully not the last. I'm open to criticism and this story is still in progress but let me know what you think of the intro. It is very short I know but let me know what you think.

[Intro]
I don't remember much from my past. Only as much as the fire lord would tell me. Like that he found me when I was a child and took me in, drilling into me that I was meant to protect him because he saved me from the brink of death. That my family had abandoned me because they saw me as a monster. All because of my birthmark. A small almost invisible blue flame at the base of my throat. He told me I was destined to stay by his side. To destroy those who try to oppose him. But I didn't want to fight for him. There was only one reason I stood by his side for so long. And that was because of Zuko. To make sure he was safe, to make sure he was happy.
And I failed.
He was disgraced and banished. After what he did to zuko, I never looked at the fire lord the same again. To challenge his own son to an Agni kai, and then banish him to find the avatar, who hasn't been around for over 100 years. That was two years ago. Two years since I was engaged to zuko, two years since the Agni kai happened and two years married to a horrible man named Admiral Zhao. I was engaged to zuko and I believed we were going to be together, happy, with a family. It was an arranged marriage between us, but it didn't mean we didn't love each other. I love zuko, even more after being forced to marry Zhao, and seeing what a horrible man he is. I will do anything to be with zuko again. And that is why I'm escaping. After two years of preparing, I finally found enough information to know that zuko is heading to the south pole continuing his search for the avatar.
My name is Kanji, and I was the fire lords protector, the unwilling wife of admiral zhao, and a weapon to the fire kingdom. I give all that up, to be with zuko. I will be his protector, if he will still have me after knowing zhao has already taken me, his wife. And if need be, I will become a weapon for him.
