I am trash for never updating….
Also, I am redoing this story! It seems rushed and not put together well, as well as...sloppy, with plot holes and everything. Its nasty, so I'm gonna fix a lot of stuff and hopefully it's gonna make much more sense and be WAY more in character than it was before.
Dangerous Waters
Disclaimer: I dont own Fullmetal Alchemist, or Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I do, however, own the original characters that I put in myself.
Roy Mustang, the famed Flame Alchemist, was not very fond of children to say the least. The way snot dribbled out of their noses when they cried, drool dripped down their chins when they ate, their grubby hands that grabbed at everything and anything, everywhere, made Roy cringe and rethink his womanizing ways. Those little bastards were straight from hell, he swore it. So, when Roy Mustang found a golden haired 12 year old and his armor clad younger brother in the aftermath of hell itself, who would have thought that his first thought would be 'I need to get him into the military.' Seriously, even he couldn't believe some of the things he did. Roy was treading on dangerous waters, here..….
CHAPTER 1: Prologue
Colonel Roy Mustang sat brooding in his office early Monday morning, glaring down at the papers in front of him as if they had personally offended him. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork. More paperwork. If Roy had to sign his name on something one more tim-
"Roy."
His eyes flickered upwards to meet those of Hughes, and the pen tapping against the stack of paper ceased.
"Is there something you need?"
Roy's voice was calm and serious. Hughes hadn't busted into his office flinging around pictures of his wife or daughter, nor was he a walking ray of sunshine. His gaze was hard and Roy could clearly make out the rigid lines on his face that being in the military had given to the soldier, the result of many sleepless nights and persistent nightmares.
"Yeah. We need to talk about the Elrics."
Roy sat up straight this time, placing down the pen completely and smoothing his gloves out of habit. "What did Edward do this time?" Roy suspected he had yet again gone off and caused another town uprising, or killed another 'priest', or something that would surely warrant Roy hours upon hours of paperwork. Just the thought itself made his temples throb with the promise of a headache.
"It's not a matter of what he did, it's an issue of what needs to be done. You're aware that he and his brother are minors, yes?"
Roy resisted the urge to roll his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose between his forefinger and his thumb. "Yes. Astute observation." Sarcasm dripped from his tone as he sat back up, folding his hands over the stack of unfinished paperwork in front of him.
"Well, regardless, it's troubling that no one is..watching over them, I guess you could say. Edward is only 12, and Alphonse younger. Don't you think that all this is weighing heavy on Ed's shoulders? He's just a boy. Alphonse is no better off either."
"No offense, Maes, but could you get to the point?"
"I want you to adopt the Elric brothers."
A/N: Really short chapter, I know, but don't worry! Like the title of the chapter says, its just a prologue. There will be more to come, so don't worry. I hope I can fix up this story quickly, as well as some of my other ones. I hope you like the new and improved Dangerous Waters!
