"That dog!" I hissed between clenched teeth.

"What did he do now?" asked my wife beside me. Her butterscotch eyes looked at me a little annoyed. She knew I tended to overreact when it came to Jacob Black.

"Believe me love; if I told you, you'd be the one to kill him" I assured her. This time, he had gone too far. My precious daughter walked in smiling brightly.

"Momma!" she beamed at Bella and threw herself in her arms.

"Nice try Renesmee. That won't save you" I said frostily and Bella rolled her eyes indignantly.

"Honestly Edward, can't it wait? We've not seen Nessie since yesterday" she pleaded.

"Of course love… Jacob, a word?" I turned my glare at the mongrel that had the nerve to touch my daughter. We silently went out of the huge house. We walked and walked until we reached the clearing right in the middle of the forest. I turned and looked at him for the first time feeling my anger burning in my chest.

"What have you to say for yourself Jacob?"

I was proud I could control my voice and not shout at him. He didn't reply, contemplating the best way to answer.

"No, no, no, don't even think about it" I answered all his unfinished thoughts which involved telling me it's not my business, or that he didn't mean it and lastly running.

"Can you please explain why could you not restrain yourself? We left you one night alone, in good faith and here I am finding my daughter no longer chaste" At the old fashioned word I saw his lips tremble a little, but he managed to control his laughter. Which was good. I might have snapped and my daughter loved that mongrel.

"Edward… I really can't explain it. One minute I was fighting it and the next i… didn't. I am sorry." He said solemnly.

"I might have believed you if I couldn't read your mind. You're full of yourself" I said and then the worst thing happened. Bella came along.

"Nessie is with Alice. They're back. Now… Tell me exactly what has Edward all fired up" he demanded regally.

"Errrrr…. Really Bells it's nothing" Jacob started to say scratching his head and looking down at his feet. I smiled lightly at the transformation of Bella's eyes. They instantly became wary. She sensed that I was right. For once in Rensmee's small life I wasn't overreacting.

"Jacob? What did you do?" she asked half glaring…
