"Mommmmy!"

D'Argo sat on side of his bed and heard soft hurried footsteps go by his door. Going to Aeryanna again. It had been going on a weeken the little girl had been wakening to dreams. He had hope that the restless sleeping episodes might be over. Only he knew that wouldn't happen until everything was back to normal.

Aeryanna was still crying, and D'Argo stood up, heading toward the child's quarters. His bare toes painfully jammed into a DRD that stood station outside the door. Cursing he fought the desire to kick it. He swore under his breath, shoving it out of his way. Frelling thing anyway.

He stuck his head into the child's room. He saw Chiana sitting on Aeryanna's bed in the dark, holding her on her lap. He could hear her humming softly. He tilted his head, hearing something else, Aeryanna humming, too.

He stood outside the doorway, looking in. Where he'd always been. I love you, she'd said. Chiana could say whatever she wanted. Believe what she needed to believe. Once the he had let himself believe that she did care for him, and now he found himself falling in that trap of thinking that she really did. He had let her back into his life, his bed but back into his heart? She has grown.she had change.but despite her pretty words of love, could she'd really give up everything she was.had been?

"D'Argo?"

He realized that Chiana was looking at him from within the darkness of the room. His jaw ached, he allowed himself to relax. "I heard her cry.and I need to."

Pulling the covers back over the sleeping child, Chiana reached down and kissed Aeryanna on the forehead. Walking soundlessly out of the room's door she never took her eyes from D'Argo's.

"She's gone back to sleep," she said, staying just inside the room, leaving some space between them.

"She remembers what happened.I had hope it would began to fade from her memory. She's so young," D'Argo anguished over the pain his goddaughter was feeling.

Chiana made a soft sound. "Yes, I too."

"You're crying," he realized. Reaching out for her, pulling her into the corridor. "Why? For Aeryanna?"

"For all of us." She laid her head onto his chest. "I don't know how much longer I can do this.D'Argo, we've got to."

Holding her close. "I know. Aeryn will be back with John. You'll see. We just have to be here to protect.to love and comforted this innocent soul."

"I know.dren." She pushed away from him, wiping the tears from her cheeks. "I'm never think I would play mother to a child."

Looking up into D'Argo's eyes. "I never thought I would fall in love with someone like you and want."

Turning from him she stared back into the room. "Aeryn and John will be back today.or.or tomorrow. We have to just keeping telling Aeryanna that.we have to."

Her voice trails off into tears. D'Argo reached out and once more took her into his arms, she didn't resist. "Yes, we will keep reassuring Aeryanna and ourselves. I have hope, as must you. They will return."

D'Argo held her close to his chest and kissed her on the head. Yes, he thought I don't have to open my heart to this woman. She was already there.
