My first publication! Huzzah! I am still working up the nerve to publish stories and I am only slightly more confident with sharing my poetry . . so here is the first one.
This face hides more Than all of you see
A surprise is in store If you'll follow me
If I sang out a note
Or changed before your eyes
If I read what you wrote
With a voice of thrill or surprise
Would you listen to me?
Would you read my page?
Would you set judgments free
If I took the stage?
Then what if we all
Became something new
Let emotions fall
And have it all release too
If we set ourselves free
Just for a moment
And let ourselves see
A world minus torment
Take in some air
Then get to your feet
This moment is rare
Your incredible feat.
If you re stepping on stage
Facing a fear
Opening a cage
Or hugging someone dear
It s your moment to shine
Grab it with two hands
And when it comes time
Explore foreign lands
But as one receives
One must also give
Like a flurry of fallen leaves
So our dreams can live.
