Shared Originality

Electra was sitting alone in the junkyard. All her friends were off doing their own thing, Etcy drooling over Tugger, Jemima flirting with Tumble, Pounce and Misto, and Victoria off somewhere with Plato. She sighed, all the adults figured that because she hung around with Etcetera so much, that she was exactly the same. No one realized that she was actually incredibly shy and quiet when she was by herself. She lay down and continued to think about how unfair everyone was, not seeing her for who she really was. The other toms her aged all ignored her because of her supposed obsession with Tugger. Most of the adults barely tolerated having her around, saying she had too much energy. She got up and went to the oven, her refuge, as few cats stayed there. She watched as the cats played, rested and talked. She saw Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks nearby cuddled together and wondered what it would be like to have a tom pay attention to her.
"Hello," a soft voice cut thought her thoughts, "What are you doing here all by yourself?"
Electra looked up, "Oh, hi Corico," she said, "Nothing much," she looked around, a bit confused, "Where's Tanto?" she asked.
"Off talking with Admetus," he answered, of course knowing exactly where his sister was. He smiled and sat down.
Electra looked up at him, confused. Corico smiled at her, "You looked like you could use some company, so I came to provide it."
Electra looked at him, "Don't you think I'd be better suited drooling over Tugger or something?" she asked.
Corico looked startled, "Why would I think that?" he asked, "That's more what Etcetera would do."
Electra relaxed a bit and smiled, "So you don't think we're one and the same?" she asked.
Corico looked at her again and laughed softly, "Of everyone, I should know best that that's not the truth," he said, "Even with our ties, Tanto and I are completely different, tho most of the Jellicles don't understand that."
Electra smiled and noticed how nervous Corico seemed, "Was there another reason you came over to talk to me?" she asked softly.
Corico blushed, something Electra had never seen happen, and he smiled slightly. "Actually, I was
wondering if you'd like to share the mouse I caught," he said softly.
Electra smiled brightly, "I'd love to," she said. She followed him out of the oven and into the twins tunnel, glancing at the moon and smiling.
