He didn't know if he would ever be able to trust her again. She knew everything about him: his heritage, his inheritance, everything. He'd been a dummkopf to even think Dyl- Deryn had been completely honest with him, the way he'd been with her. Everything he thought he knew had been a lie. Now he faced a decision: turn Deryn in to her death, or keep her secret and live. And then, a thought occurred to Alek. The reason Deryn had never told him her secret was the fear of being turned in. With that thought, his decision was made. He couldn't hold anything against her because she was keeping secrets from everyone. He was doing the same thing, hiding that he was really the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Although he thought Deryn should have trusted him more, considering he told hereverything, he saw the reasoning behind it and knew he would be able to forgive and eventually trust her. Her secret was safe with him, just like his secret was safe with her.
