Crime scene investigator Gill Grisom got the call around 3AM; Double homicide. The job was done cleanly and bore all the marks of a mafia hit save for the message on the wall, 'One payment short.' A hit man. Grisom glanced around the room. His eyes focused not on the 2 bodies on the floor, but on a still living barefoot body dressed simply in a baggy shirt and jeans. He was standing hunched looking out the window, the glaring light of the sirens outside throwing streaks of red across his body.
"Merely a coincidence." Said the strange man.
"No civilians allowed inside," said Grisom briskly wondering if he already had his murderer.
"I'm not just a civilian, or the murderer," said the stranger who couldn't have been older then a teenager. He turned around still hunched over his head down, "I am a detective." The boy offered his hand and raised his head flashing scarlet eyes, which Grisom dismissed as a trick of the light, "I am Rue Ryuzakki and you are Gill Grisom." Grisom did not take his hand. The boy who introduced himself as Ryuzakki sighed and instead put his hand to his mouth, "I am merely her to observe this awesome coincidence. Of course I mean the mafia connection this family has when this homicide is clearly the work of a paid hit man turning on those who were paying him after they came up one payment short." This conclusion was eventually they exact one that Grisom himself would be forced to come to but at the time he just shook his head at the strange boy. Ryuzakki, however, was thinking of a different coincidence. Specifically, that Mr. and Mrs. Keehl should be murdered while their family was being watched by both a detective and a murderer. A coincidence that that very murderer would show up tonight to kill them and find them already dead. A coincidence that their unusually smart son, now an orphan, had fled the scene, and Gill Grisom, nor the police, knew he existed.
