I can't help it
'I know how she feels about me, but I can't help it, I don't feel it back, I don't love her like that, I don't love her, I love-'
"Cloud!" I looked up, brought back to reality by the voice of concern, well, actually it was the voice of Tifa.
"You seem a little preoccupied, is everything OK?"
'No, it isn't, it really isn't, I wish I could tell you'
"Yeah,"
"Cloud..."
"Yeah?"
"Nothing, it doesn't matter." she bowed her head and I felt bad, I seriously needed to get my affairs in order. I bowed my head, too, and resumed polishing the sword again. I wouldn't usually spend so much time on it, but it gave me an excuse to get off by myself for a while and I needed to get some thinking time. I never heard her leave, but she must've because the next time I looked up, the room was empty. Slowly I relaxed, and my mind began to wander down the same train of thought as I pondered what to do. Everything seemed so muddled, whenever I thought of her beautiful face, her long, shiny hair, her eyes which sparkled like gems, I sighed, footsteps. I looked up, straight into Aeris' eyes, she just stood there for a minute, watching me closely, as if by looking at me she could read my thoughts. I felt uncomfortable under such close scrutiny, she did something totaly unexpected, she spoke,
"Tifa's upset,"
"Is she...?"
she sighed, "I don't know why you have to be so blunt with her sometimes, and so blunt with me, no, with everyone, but Tifa takes it so much more personally, it isn't fair."
"It's because of the way I feel about her, about you." I longed to say, instead I just bowed my head and polished the blade...again.
She shook her head, turned on her heel and left.
'I'm sorry Aeris, I'm sorry Tifa, I love one of you, but I can't tell you, I can't hurt the other, but at the same time I'm hurting both...'
I knew what I had to do.
The stars were bright, as I walked down the street, I pressed the doorbell, and sure as sugar she answered, she looked surprised, and I stepped inside, she didn't resist, as I whispered in her ear "I love you..."
