Soccer practice had been brutal, life with Xana had been hard, Yumi was still wondering why I had given her a dog toy. Walking out of the locker room, I pulled out a small box, inside, was my real gift. I saw the girl on black who made my world spin walking to the forest.
"Yumi!" I shouted at the top of my lungs, running at full speed.
A smile spread across her face as I ran up to her.
"Hey, umm, I tried calling you this morning, were you at another soccer practice?" she asked.
"Actually, I was getting you this," I told her, and wrapped her soft hand around the gift.
Her cheeks flared, she looked down, then up at me.
"I know you can't open it in front of me, but I promise you it is not a dog collar," I told her.
"Would you mind if I opened it here anyway?" she asked sweetly.
"Please, go ahead," I told her, blushing violently.
She pulled lightly on the purple silk ribbon and lifted the lid to the box. Inside was a pair of onyx earrings.
"Wow! They're beautiful!" she said.
I leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips, she returned it.
