Title: Ownership
Rating: Mild K+
Summary: Jacob tells Bella his thoughts.
Author Notes: I am not a big fan of Twilight however, I am attempting to get through all the books. I am currently in the middle of the third and I was inspired to write this. ConCrit is loved. I do not know if I made Jacob too angsty or not . . . But, thanks for reading!
Ownership
Jacob stared at Bella for a moment; he could feel a hint of anger bubbling under his skin but, he tried his hardest to keep it in. They needed to have this conversation as one person to another person. Not with hostility or anger. He breathed in and out, remembering what Sam had told him about controlling emotions, and as he spoke his words came out harder than normal, hinted with a small amount of irritation he could not hide, "Bells, you know I am not a fan of . . . him," there was obvious restraint to keep back the words of bloodsucker, or the leech, "However, I know you well and it would be a lie to say you aren't my best friend," Jacob gave an apologetic smile at the girl - no, woman- standing by him, listening intently, "I don't think Edward is healthy for you."
Bella's features morphed from a polite listener to a shocked bystander. Her small mouth opened with shock and her word's spilled out, reaching Jacob in a disjointed state. Apparently, Jacob just didn't understand real love, according to Bella. Edward protected her. He kept her out of trouble, she said. He held her and loved her and was this all really just about jealousy?
The boy closed his eyes; breathing in and then out, counting down from ten to calm his nerves before he spoke again, in a light, even more disconnected voice, as if Bella's words had hit harder than one could imagine, "Is protection controlling your every move? If so, I call that ownership, Bells, possession. I would never call that love, are you really just a pet to be watched over?"
Bella once again looked ready to oppose the statement, but Jacob held up his hand, "The pack needs me. Just, think about it, Bella."
And he left.
