I would like to point out that this is a drabble and will probably not be continued.

The day had come for district twelve to select their tributes. Kurt had been dreading this day, as did every other kid eligible for the games. Kurt was especially worried for this year. His father's heart attack made him unsuited for work in the mines so Kurt was left to come up with food himself. His father didn't know this, but he had opted to put his names several more times in the drawing. He now stood beside Blaine, holding his hand tightly.

The female tribute was called. "Quinn Fabray!" She stepped boldly up to the platform. Kurt scanned the crowd for Rachel. She looked devastated. Tears were already apparent on her face. Kurt's heart ached for her. He almost didn't catch the name of the male tribute. His name.

He couldn't move. He only did when officials came to escort him. His eyes watered when he turned to Blaine. His face was overcome with anguish and disbelief.

The officials moved Kurt forward. Blaine only let go when he was too far away to reach.

"I love you, Blaine." Kurt choked through a sob. He was too far gone to hear Blaine's reply. It was as if he could feel the Earth moving beneath him and made it difficult to stand, let alone walk willingly to what would almost certainly be his death.

Kurt then heard some struggling back where he had been standing.

"Wait!" All heads turned to the shout. "WAIT! I volunteer!" Blaine couldn't lose Kurt. He couldn't.
