This is Captain America, long time leader of the Avengers and the Sentinel of Liberty giving you the state of address regarding what's going on recently. Yes, there has been controversy about me being a HYDRA agent the entire time, which shocked, anger and broke all of your heart, including mine. Nick Spencer wrote that to start a controversy in a attempt to boast sales, just like Dan Slott who started his own controversy by created the Superior Spider-Man and did damage on the characters like Spider-Man, Black Cat and the list goes on.

However, the controversy has repercussions. Like death threats to the writers. I know you're going to disagree with me when I say this: death threats against the writer will not make things better, they'll only get worse because that's against everything I stood for.

So I will set the record straight and tell you the real truth: I'm still the same Steve Rogers that you grew up reading comic books, watching cartoons and movies and playing video games on. My origins stay the same along with my history and nothing and no one will change that no matter what. The same Steve Rogers as Cap who gave Spider-Man the inspirational speech during the Civil War over the Superhuman Registration Act. And it goes like this...

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world-"No. You move."

So what I'm saying is that in order for Marvel Comics to see the error of their ways, the only way you'll still support me as a true fan is read old comic books about me and the Avengers rather than the current ones, watch cartoons like Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Avengers assemble and movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, play video games and write fanfics about me in real character. I want you to never give up hope that one day Marvel Comics will learn their lessons about making controversial decisions on the characters that you love and cherish for the rest of your lives so they can get the heads out of their...butts or what whatever you like to call it. That's the only way for my character in comic book to be back to normal without the use of death threats.

One day everyone will read comic books again but until then, keep supporting your favorite characters and ship your favorite couples in fanfics, cartoons, tv shows and movies when comics wouldn't. If you chose to remain reading comic books, I won't hold anything against you. And despite the controversial plot twist Nick Spencer went on about, I am not a Nazi or a HYDRA agent and I never will be!
