The rays of sunlight shone through the window, casting a somewhat ethereal glow on the room as well as the girl slumbering within its borders. Although she may look like a girl this is not truly an adequate description. For she is, in fact, many years older than she seems.
Eventually the luminous beams proved too much for her sleeping state as she slowly began to awaken under its unyielding light. Tossing and turning she heard her brother yelling "Oi, Lucy, time to get up. You're gonna be late!" Startled, she rose from her bed. She glanced around the room before setting her eyes on her new uniform. Grabbing it, she got changed and brushed her hair before slipping on her shoes. She grabbed her bag and exited her room then started heading down the stairs. The faces of her siblings greeted her. "Good morning!" she called. Everyone responded in various ways, some waving and others simply smiling. "Ready to start this new school?" Lucy asked quietly.
"Course, I'm ready for anything!" Her sister responded jokingly. Sensing her unease she continued. "Don't worry Lucy, ya gonna be fine. If anyone tries anything we'll just knock 'em out!"
Several murmurs of agreement were heard from around the table.
After a brief pause she responded "Yes, I know. Anyway, are you all ready to leave? I'm heading out." Her sister jumped up, "Yeah I'll come with ya. Are ya gonna walk or not?" When Lucy merely shrugged her shoulders she gained a evil glint in her eyes. "We ain't walkin'. Gotta make a good first impression, right?" Lucy nodded- laughing at her sister's eagerness- before turning very serious. "You are NOT driving us again, I do not wish to die today!" The two paused before laughing out loud at the statement. "Yeah right!" They chorused. Saying goodbye to the others, they left knowing they would follow soon after. "On to a new adventure!" Lucy cried with a hint of sarcasm. "Yeah, yeah. It was good but the raised fist was a bit much," Her sister deadpanned. "Come on. We can't be late for our first day!" She encouraged. The two boarded their beloved vehicle and sped off to their new school.
