"Bus! Mommy, there's a bus!"

Sango smiled to herself sadly as she drove down the busy main street of her hometown.

She could still hear the voice of her five year old daughter, precious little Rin.

To this day she couldn't pass a bus without hearing the voice in her head. But it had been eleven years now, her daughter would have been sixteen this fall...Would have.

It had been an ordinary day; nothing unusual happened as Sango drove her daughter to her school across town. The little girl staring intently out of the passenger seat window incase any of the buses that so fascinated her tried to sneak past unnoticed.

She had dropped the young girl off and proceeded on to her work.

The day had gone by in its usual, boring manner and all of a sudden it was 3 o'clock. Sango smiled to herself as she gathered up her belongings and headed out of the office to pick up her daughter.

She had driven towards the school as usual, only to find the front of the school surrounded by police cars.

Parking the car as quickly as possible Sango hurried towards the police in confusion before deciding it was more important to find her daughter. Yes, after she had located Rin everything would be alright.

Instantly all the worst scenarios possible started running through her head.

"Rin?"

She heard herself call out hoarsely before catching a glimpse of the scene behind the police barriers and feeling her whole body go numb.

There was a small body laying on the curb. It was crumpled and covered in blood, laying at an odd angle.

It looked like, like her little Rin. But it couldn't be...

A sudden scream reached her ears as the police held her back.

It took her a while to realize the screams were her own.

"Mommy, mommy look, there's a bus!"

Another voice finally succeeded in pulling her from the memory as she looked down at the child now sitting in the passenger seat, her six year old son.

What was it about buses that were so darn fascinating?

And maybe one day she'd even tell the boy about his sister...
