Wish I could give you guys the original version of this it was absolutely brilliant but for the life of me I do not know where I wrote it. Also I'd really appreciate if u let me know whether to keep going with this new version cos I'm not all that inspired yet but since I can't find anything like this to read.. it's being resurrected. Well as much as you can off memories from years ago. Appologies for any 2am errors.
The call of the Tardis faded; biting her lip Rose looked across to the phenomenon standing next to her wondering if they would ever hear that sound again. She stared at the man scrutinising his features and he just stood there waiting giving her a little smile.
A gift from the Doctor, her own Doctor, a Doctor which in the short time she'd spent with him had said and done what she had waited years for her Doctor to do. But they were the same, that is what the Doctor had said. Her Doctor but with a touch of something else, a new mystery and the gift of saying what her Doctor had always refused to say. But never mind any of that, she had just missed her Doctor, her fantastic friend. The number of times she had prayed to see him again and now, at least some form of him, was standing right next to her, holding her hand, waiting for some kind of response. Well she'd coped with him regenerating, at least this time he had the same face.
So, she poked him in the chest.
A wide grin spread across his face as he rocked back and ran his tongue over his teeth.
"Same teeth though," he remarked making Rose laugh and an anxious weight eased around them. "It's good to see you Rose." She smiled at him with a tinge of past sadness, "Yeah, I started to think I'd never see you again." He wrapped his arm around her in a side hug, cautious where this new version of him stood with Rose albeit the kiss and she lent into him with a sigh. He gave her a squeeze, "come on, we'd better get back to the others before your mother has a go at us." Rose gave a chuckle as he added, "well more me. Or maybe she will be less inclined to slap me now I am almost part of her species."
"I think Mickey would disagree," Rose answered. She paused for a moment and looked up at the Doctor quietly, "are you really all that different?"
He stopped walking and looked back at her, "Truthfully I really don't know. My memories are the same as they were, my emotions," he thought for a second, "are the same but I feel I can do things I wasn't able, he wasn't, we weren't able to do. It's like I've been copied and pasted but without the weight of the world trying to crush me under its big boulder." He ran his hand through his hair letting out a breath. "I guess we both will just have to wait and see."
Rose nodded running what he had said through the cyclone in her mind as they began to walk again, unable to not take his hand after a few steps in fear her new found connection to the man who meant the whole universe to her could somehow just fade away again. She shuddered, a cold feeling sliding through her heart.
"Cold?" He asked squeezing her hand and she nodded, "Yeah sort of."
"Come on," he said wrapping his arm back around her, "we'll be in the car soon."
And with the weight of his body she felt a little warmer.
Thankyou for reading :)
