The transfers and Dauntless Born were lined up against the wall. Divergent inspection.

"Any Divergent shall be killed immediately."

I stood beside the leader of Dauntless, Four, I had the job of shooting while he scanned. He began.

First, Not Divergent.

Second, Not Divergent.

Third, Divergent. Four looked at me gave a slight nod. There was fear on the girl's face, but we couldn't have her here, or anywhere, she is dangerous. I puled her to the side of the line where the rest of the Transfers and Dauntless Born could see. She began to cry, I gave her a stern look and pushed her down to her knees where she began to sob. I aimed the loaded gun at her head and shot. Her limp body falling to the floor, a puddle of blood forming instantly.

Two guards dragged her body away.

14 Transfers and Born later, 6 Dead.

I walked through the Pit, my heavy boots echoing at each step.

Four was walking my way, we made eye contact and he motioned for me to follow him.

"What have I told you about shooting?" He asked, anger in his voice.

"I'm killing. I don't have time for the bastards, they should've never been born in the first place." I replied.

"At least have a little sympathy for the kids okay? They find out they're a danger to the world seconds before they die, don't be so rough." He whisper yelled.

"No, okay?! I'm doing my job and following the law." I half yelled.

"Don't follow the fucking law. Not all Divergents are dangerous."

"Then, why was the most dangerous under your care?"

Four grabbed me by the throat and pushed me against the wall. "SHE WASN'T DANGEROUS SHE DIED FOR NOTHING SHE WAS INNOCENT!" He yelled in my face. "You don't know shit about her."

I smirked.

"Say anything about her again and you die. That's a promise."

He let go of me and stormed off.

"Not if you die first, Tobias Eaton."
