Eyes Older Than Their Time
The eyes are said to be the window into the soul. So when a girl looks up at you
with the eyes of a woman far wiser you begin to wonder; when did hers get so old.
For two old men watching from the sidelines it is simple. It started with a 100 year old tyranny in two different worlds. Both were destined for greatness, but at the cost of much of their innocence.
The Southern Bender freed her world's last hope and took the weight of the world onto her shoulders. The responsibility for food, clean clothes, and healthy children is hers to bear alone. She is the one they weep on, but no one can ever hear her weep because she may never stop with all of the worries and sorrows piled on top of her. No one can ever no how close she is to the edge. She is in the background and keeps the group together. She would protect them from anything and everything, no matter what.
The Gentle Queen knew that while her siblings had lived in and fought the darkness, they would never understand the deceit needed to hold court with other royalty. This reality never escaped her. She host parties and courts suitors and she is a homemaker to hide the warrior. She would protect them even if they never knew, because she was their sister. She knew the facts and they had never stopped her before.
These moments only lasted a second. To the rest of the world these two were nothing ,but the reliable, caring, mother-figure and the silly twit of a sister who swore to forget. The two men drinking tea on the sideline lines, however were greatly saddened by the burden thrust upon them at such a young age. Their respect was rapidly growing as they watched these girls/women hold up.
