After School
The droning bell echoed in the hallway, rousing the daydreaming redhead from her window-staring adventures. She felt rather unsure if she was simply bored or annoyed with the fact that Friday was a miserable three days away. Mercifully, a familiar voice buzzed in her ear.
"C'mon, Cul, it's time to get out of this dump!" Lily huffed, making a gesture to the door.
What was so exciting about going home? There wasn't much to do there either. Cul sighed, throwing her books in her bookbag and standing up for a much-needed stretch. The blonde was already about halfway out of the room when the redhead regained some semblance of motivation.
"Hey, wait for me, ya blonde bitch!" she called, chuckling playfully.
Something in her gut gave her the sudden epiphany that sometime soon, something would start brewing. A revolution was on the verge of building, she just knew it.
At the Vocaloid Mansion
Back home, the rebel tossed aside her schoolwork boredly, turning her attention instead to her computer. She might as well scan the net for what was going on, she figured. She hated the lulls between album releases, she decided.
With a simple click on the YouTube tab, she felt her eyebrow twitch in aggravation at the first thing under the "Popular Now" section. Some Utau did a cover of that ridiculous Sukone Tei song "Declare War."
Now just who is this bitch? She thought idly to herself, curiously clicking the video with something of a disgusted and disturbed interest. She didn't pay any mind to the comments section or the like bar, and instead chose to full-size the video so they wouldn't distract her.
The image of the Utau before her unnerved her ever so slightly, although she wouldn't admit it. They had what looked like purple eyes and very long red hair, not to mention they sported a rather revealing dress with some weird piano pattern. Normally, something so gaudy would've annoyed her, and it managed to do so during the instrumental introduction to the song, but as the voice drifted through her headphones, her opinion changed.
This Utau actually had a pretty strong voice and a little talent to boot. She hated to admit it, but a chill shot up her spine at it. She simultaneously wanted to spit in their face and continue listening, and somehow managed to hold back her disgust for the lyrics for the latter option. Thankfully, the quality stayed high throughout, and after the song ended, she exited fullscreen mode and took note of the Utau's name and did a quick Google search.
The first link sent her directly to the Utau Wiki, because everyone knows that Wikia is the absolute best place to find the basic information you're looking for.

The Vocaloid shot out of her chair in surprise. "What the hell?" she exclaimed. Now it wasn't just morbid curiosity, her search had become one of genuine intrigue. She seated herself, pressing her lips into a flat line as she continued her research.
…Sex: Male (Cross dresser)
Well that certainly explained a lot.
At the bottom of the page, several links provided further exploration of this disturbingly enticing Utau's musical exploits. She recognized the song "Shotgun Lovers" from Hatsune Miku's own original list. Knowing the sex appeal of the song, morbid curiosity killed the Cul again as she clicked the YouTube link to that track.
The cover started out with the Utau's signature "Kire" tone, which she begrudgingly had to admit was growing on her. Something about the power between his low and high notes sent her into something of a music-induced high, and the hairs on her arms stood up, and she would never admit it to anyone, but the chorus hooked her in.
Damn him.
He's supposed to be a rival, and she mentally kicked herself in the ass for the praise she had been thinking of him. If anything, she hated the fact that something about him reminded her of herself. Absolutely infuriating.
The Vocaloid closed her eyes and shut down her computer, since it was already well past midnight. She tried to let sleep take over her, but the music stuck in her head left her anything but tired. Somehow, she managed to relax enough eventually, although her dreams were extremely bizarre that night.
