This is my first every fanfiction and english isn't my first language, so there could be some grammatical errors.
It is Monday morning. Leroy Jethro Gibbs enters the Navy Yard with a cup of coffee in his hand. He looks around before sitting himself at his desk. Ziva David and Timothy McGee sit at their own desks trying to look busy. Gibbs looks over at Anthony DiNozzo's desk noticing it is empty.
"Where's DiNozzo?" asks Gibbs glaring at McGee.
"He has not come into work yet Boss." Answered McGee nervously.
"Have anyone of you tried calling him?" asked Gibbs as he looked between McGee and Ziva.
"Yes, he is not answering." Ziva answered as she once again tried calling Tony's cellphone.
Tony DiNozzo woke up with a jolt. His body was covered in sweat, while he tried to catch his breath. Tony ran his hands through his hair while his breathing returned to normal. He turned towards the alarm clock standing at the nearby night table.
Shit it is already 9.15. I am going to be late, thought Tony to himself.
He ran out of bed, toke a quick shower before heading out to his car. Kate sat at the passenger side smiling at him. Tony looks at her quickly smiling sadly back at her before turning his attention back to the traffic.
After 10 minutes Tony entered the Navy Yard. He presses the elevator bottom and the doors closed behind him.
"I want you to be happy Tony. Do not let this day get to you." said Kate.
"How am I supposed to not let it affect me? It has been a year today. I miss you." Answered Tony with sad eyes.
"I miss you too. But I do not want you to be sad because of me." Kate said.
"Can we please talk about something else?" asked Tony.
"It is not my decision to make you know? Are you ever going to tell the others about this?" asked Kate, as she looked him in the eyes.
"There is no way I am going to tell them about this. They will just think I am crazy." He said.
"They are not going to judge you. They are your friends after all." Said Kate as she squished his hand. Tony smiled at her before stepping out off the elevator.
"You're late DiNozzo." Growled Gibbs as Tony entered the bullpen, throwing his back at his desk and turning on his computer.
"I know. I am sorry it will not happen again." Answered Tony sadly.
Gibbs just gave a small nod, knowing how hard this day must be for him, before turning to the others.
"So what have we got?" McGee and Ziva hurried up from their chairs and began to explain what they had found out about the victim they discovered yesterday.
Tony made his way over to the others looking at the screen, feeling Kate's presence behind him. She was always there, always with him. He turned slightly giving her a small smile.
Tony entered his apartment later that evening. He walked into the living room sitting down on the couch. He took his weapon from its holster and turned it around between his fingers.
"I can't do this anymore." He whispered.
"Tony you have to let me go. You have to move on," said Kate not daring to take her eyes away from the gun he held in his hands.
"I can't do that. I need to be with you." He said.
"Tony…" said Kate with pain in her voice.
"Please don't. Not now." said Tony still looking at the gun.
"So I should just wait till after you have killed yourself?" answered Kate.
Tony hesitated. He closed his eyes not wanting to look at her. Not wanting to see her begging eyes. He had to do this. He has failed so many times before. It was time.
"You have too much to live for Tony. What about Gibbs, McGee and Ziva? What about Abby?" asked Kate.
"But what about you?" said Tony so quietly Kate barely heard him.
He slowly raised the gun, his hand shivering.
"Tony please… Don't…" said Kate tears running down her cheeks.
"I love you Kate."
Those were Anthony DiNozzo's final words.
