"Lily, wait!" James called out, chasing her through the abandoned hall.
"Go away, Potter!" she said as he caught her arm. "I don't want to talk to you."
"Lily, what happened?" he asked still trying to slow her down.
"Nothing," she snapped, coming to a stop. "It's none of your business." She tried pulling away from him.
"Lily, just wait. You don't have to tell me what happened. I was just worried. You weren't at dinner and then you went running past us just now." He ran his hand down her arm grabbing her hand. "I'll leave if you want me to. Just say the word."
Lily looked down to where he held her hand, his thumb tracing small circles. "Don't go," she whispered.
He pulled her to him, wrapping his arms around her. "I'm not going anywhere."
She threw her arms around his neck and began to sob into his chest. James stood there holding her. He would stand here forever if he had to, as long as she wanted him.
Lily slowly began to regain control. Her head came up to rest on his shoulder. "He-he said that if I was brainless enough to be with you than I was as good as dead to him. He said I'd no longer exist as far as he was concerned."
"I'm sorry, Lily." James said.
"How could he say that? I-we...I don't understand what I did wrong."
"You didn't do anything wrong. He's the one that changed, not you. I thought you realized that when he called you that…name." He pulled her closer, letting his hand run through her hair.
"I thought he would change. I thought that when he thought he lost me he'd change. I'm not enough. I loved him."
James sighed. "I know," he whispered, closing his eyes in pain. Finally he pulled back to look at her. "I've told you for years he's a stupid git, and in a few days we will be gone and you won't have to see him ever again. I don't know how anyone wouldn't think you aren't enough." He kissed her forehead.
Lily gave a sad smile. "I don't deserve you," she said, pushing back a rouge piece of black hair.
He flashed a grin. "I am pretty spectacular…"
She rolled her eyes and gave a small laugh before looking directly at him. "I love you."
James stood there staring back at her, his mouth hung slightly open. Lily raised her hand and trailed her fingers down his jaw.
"James?" she questioned, biting her lip.
He blinked. "I…you…I…what?"
"I love you, James," she answered, smiling.
He grinned, picking her up and spinning her. Lily laughed and wrapped her arms around his neck kissing him. Slowly he put her down and pulled away.
"Took you long enough" he smirked, leaning back against the wall.
"Ugh!" she huffed, throwing her arms into the arm and walking towards to common room.
James laughed, following her. He reached out and spun her around, pulling her close enough that she could feel his lips barely against her own, hazel eyes looking directly into emerald green. "I love you too, Lily," he murmured.
A/N: This just popped into my head and wouldn't go away. I was in a fluff mood. Review? Please?
