Tyler stared at the female in front of him, watching her and looking at her in the way that she needed to be looked at. It was her eighteenth birthday, and he knew that she hated him – or at least that's what he figured when she told him goodbye after he was only trying to protect her. Ever since he was sired to Klaus, he only wanted to listen to his commands and ignore everyone else's – including Caroline's. But why would he do a thing like that when he cared about her that much? And he knew that even more when he met up with her right before school started, with tear stained eyes as he told her goodbye himself telling her that he couldn't be all there for her, though he wanted to – god he wanted to be there for her like a boyfriend should, like a guy in love should.

He thought of those words now as the moonlight shone across her features, confusion setting in as she wondered why he was there to break up the party with her friends. But truth was, that he wanted to see her – he had to tell her how he really felt, what he had been feeling since the moment that he kissed her on that doorstep. He felt the beginning stages of love even then, because for once he had found someone that understood him, and for once he had found someone that wouldn't judge him for what he was and to be there for… him.

It felt like eternity before the words came out of his mouth in a fumble, the corners of his lips forming into a smile as he spoke the words that wanted to so desperately come out of his mouth. "I'm not moving on from anything Caroline, I love you." There he said that, and before he knew it – he took another step closer to her and pressed his lips into hers, holding her closer to him as he felt all the weight being lifted from his thoughts, the thoughts and the feelings that he wanted to tell her – that he needed to tell her, because he did love her and even though she didn't say it – he knew that she felt it back.

His lips went down to her neck, his tongue and teeth grazing her soft cool skin as Klaus's words from earlier rang through his mind, "Bite her." Without another warning his teeth nipped into her flesh and upon feeling the blood on his lower lip he pushed back from her, the look of shock on both of their faces as her small hand moved up to feel the blood, her body pushing up against a tree nearby as her mouth hung open. "Caroline I'm so so-" He was cut off by her shriek. "You bit me!"

His dark eyes widened as he stared at her, at the girl that he loved and he knew then that he had lost her – that he was never going to get her back and that… he had to go, he couldn't' be here for this he couldn't watch her just die. Turning to leave he gave her one last longing look as he mouthed those three words again, hoping that she would know that he did love her and that he was sorry for that – for biting her, and if she hated him… he didn't know what he would ever do.

Two Day's Later.

A few days past and he had already heard the news that Klaus had saved Caroline, and he had already told her his apologies and told went through the Bill Forbes method into trying to fix himself – not for him, but for her. Though that ended badly when he had attacked the male, leaving him for dead – but the words from the male were true from before in the cellar, he wouldn't' see Caroline till he was better, he had to fix himself for her, to make this bond go away for good. He had to be free. And as he grasped the duffel bag over his shoulder and stood outside of her house in the pale white moon he knew that he was leaving something special, that he was leaving his love behind – the only girl that he loved and the only girl that he wanted to protect. And he didn't want to leave her, god no, he didn't want to leave her at all but he had to – he had to fix himself for her, for himself, for everyone; and when he got back to town he would be free, he had to be free – just like he promised her.
