S'happening guys? (Insert crazy laugh here). Yes, I am slightly hyper, which is rare, because I am one of the most un-hyper people you will ever meet. Yeah, on to the fanfic stuff! This is based off of the Turtle Movies ( Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3, and TMNT), and it takes place shortly after the events of the 4th movie. Read, enjoy and review, I own nothing.

"Well, Kagome, have you got anything to say? We've been talking about friends." Miss Grant said loudly in her nasal voice.

Kagome gritted her teeth in annoyance. I'm already blind, I don't need to be deaf too, you old bat. Regardless, Kagome answered said bat's question. "I only have 2 here in New York, Dan and Keno. I have-had a few back in Japan, their names were Eri, Yuka and Ayumi." She coolly replied.

Dan Pennington's cool hand touched the top of hers, while Keno Reye's warm one clapped her shoulder.

This was a support group for troubled, lying teens. In Kagome's case, it was where her father made her go, because he did not know how to deal with her. In Dan's case, it was because Charles Pennington loved his son and wished Dan would open up about where he had run away to for a month two years ago. Keno's mom wanted to know how he had gotten covered in bruises and why he had skipped school. The boys had been coming here for just over a year, and they still hated it. Kagome had only been attending for 2 months.

The trio had similarities. They were living with single parents, and they were all keeping secrets from them. They never talked about it, but Kagome could tell that the boys' secrets were related.

Though she had only known them for a couple of months, they had fallen into a nice routine. The boys would tell Kagome about the stupid dresses and skirts Miss Grant would wear (who wears poodle skirts?). Kagome would tell them stories about Japan and about the shrine, along with female wisdom. Keno would flirt with Kagome to make her laugh, was always the one who would bring the pizza and was around for comedy relief. Dan would play the host whenever Kagome's father was home and would often give the other 2 advice, being the most mature.

"Well, why don't you tell us why those 3 friends of yours are not you're friends anymore?" Miss Grant asked in a sickeningly sweet voice.

Kagome knew what she was supposed to say. Because I lied. Everyone there was a liar, in some form or another. But Kagome had long since fallen out of the habit of doing what she was supposed to do.

"They weren't really my friends. It was convenient for the 4 of us. We were in the same classes, and when we first became friends, I had been at the top of my class and they had not. I let them see my work and I told them some things about myself that I wish I hadn't, and they spread rumors about me." Kagome's hand tightened on Dan's. "When my grades slumped, they came around less and less. Out friendship was superficial, and, like I said, convenient. When it stopped being convenient, it ended."

"Now, now, Kagome. We all know that's not what really happened. It's because you lied." Miss Grant said in a voice that made Kagome want to slam her cane into the older woman's head.

"Um, Miss Grant? It's 5 o'clock." One of the kids said cautiously.

"Is it? Well I guess we'll finish talking next week." Miss Grant said sweetly.

"Damn her! She doesn't know jack squat about me or about my life in Japan! She doesn't know what those three did!" Kagome screamed once she was outside with Dan and Keno, smacking her cane into the ground.

"Scream a little louder Kags, those three might hear you back in Japan." Keno said lightly.

Kagome sighed. "Sorry. But I had to get it out of my system." She apologized.

"No problem. Wanna head to my place?" Dan asked. "Dad said it was OK if you wanted to come over."

"What's on the menu?" Keno asked, grinning.

"Whatever, we pick up on the way."

"How about Chinese? We haven't had that in a while." Kagome suggested.

They walked to Dan's house in silence, lost in their thoughts.

Kagome reflected on what had happened to her life. She was only sixteen, but she felt ready to die. Two years ago, she had been friends with Yuka, Eri and Ayumi, she had been top of her class and an overall normal girl. One year ago, she had been battling Naraku, spending most of her time in the Sengoku Jidai, failing school, and she had been able to see. Six months ago, she learned that her 'friends' had been spreading rumors about her doing drugs, fighting and sleeping around with a bunch of crazy guys. Three months ago, in the final battle with Naraku, she had been able to blast him open with her sacred arrow, enabling her to grab the jewel from inside of him and purify it. But Naraku would not let her go unpunished for his destruction. With the last of his strength, he had sprayed miasma into her eyes, blinding her. Jewel in hand, the sounds around her faded and the feel of Inuyasha's arms around her were replaced by the voices of her concerned family. Two months ago, her father was finally able to gain custody of her, after a month of battling in family court. Her father, Aito Fuse, had claimed that he could afford the care needed for a blind teenager, schooling, a happy, healthy environment. Happy? Yeah, right. Her father had demanded that she tell him what had happened over the past year, why she was failing school, where she had been going. When she hadn't told him, he had started making her come to 'support group', where she had met Keno and Dan.

Keno and Dan were thinking about the same things. Their lives had gotten pretty crazy when they had me the turtles; Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and their sensei, Splinter. They both wondered if the should tell Kagome. She had proved to be a good friend, and she needed help, whether she knew it or not. Not because she was blind, but because she had been hurt. Neither Dan nor Keno knew what had happened to her, but whatever did, it had left her angry, bitter and sad. She had warmed somewhat in the past two months in New York City, but she was still broken. Maybe if she was in on the secret in the sewers, she would open up to them more often, and she could heal.

When they finally reached Dan's apartment, Charles Pennington was already home.

"Hello." Charles called out cheerfully. "Keno, Kagome, it's nice to see you two. How did the meeting go?"

"Miss Grant tried to blame me for my friends ditching me and spreading rumors about me." Kagome said irritably.

"Kags nearly made us go deaf once we were outside." Keno added.

"We were talking about friends." Dan explained.

"Well that sounds…..nice." Charles said lamely. "Well, kids I have a, uh, meeting tonight, and I see you've got dinner covered, so I need to get going. I should be back in a couple of hours." Charles waved goodbye to the kids and quickly headed out the door.

"And by meeting, he means date." Dan said, smiling. Dan's mother had died three years ago, and Charles had only recently begun dating again, with Dan's avid support.

"You know, I'm beginning to think I make your dad uncomfortable." Kagome commented thoughtfully.

"You're probably right, you're very...blunt."

"Oh."

"Hello? Chinese, anybody?" Keno interrupted, shaking the bag in front of them. "I don't know about you two, but I'm still a growing boy." He continued, causing Kagome and Dan to laugh.

"Guys, I don't need a babysitter. I am 16; I can handle waiting outside for my ride." Kagome said irritably to the silly boys.

It was almost eight and Kagome had had the guys call the chauffeur her father had hired for her. Since it was difficult navigating the busy streets when you could actually see, it was harder when you were blind. Although, the only difficulties Kagome had were when it came to non-living things. Due to her spiritual powers, Kagome could sense living beings, along with anything they held or wore. Their spirits filled their bodies completely and rubbed off on what they touched, although if they put it down, the energy would fade. When Kagome looked at people, it was like looking at an outline or a filled mould. She could recognize beings by their colors: humans were blue, hanyos were purple, youkai were red, plants were green and animals were yellow. It was very simple.

In fact, it was one of the reasons she hated going back to the penthouse she lived in with her father. It was lifeless, full of electronics and lacking any true life to the place. Luckily, they lived on the top floor, and, after some begging and bargaining, her father had had a greenhouse put on the top floor for her, her own refuge. It reminded her of the Sengoku Jidai, because many of the plants were from Japan and could be used in medicines.

"Fine, but if you're still out there in five minutes, you're waiting, in here, with us." Keno said irritably.

Kagome smiled and nodded in his direction. Keno was so like Inuyasha in some ways. He was belligerent, impulsive, protective, and was a big softie underneath.

Dan opened the door for her and she tapped her way to the elevator. Her cane had been made from a branch that had fallen from the Goshinboku, and it had the Japanese characters for friendship, courage, wisdom, and love carved into it. Tracing her fingers over them, she reached up to the necklace she wore. To anyone else, it was just a pale pink crystal, but in reality, it was the Shikon no Tama; the Sacred Jewel of Four Souls. Exiting the apartment building, she leaned up against the side of the building and waited for her ride.

Wow, that took me a while. Don't worry, the story will speed up, this is just a default chapter, really. Sayonara!
