Funeral of Flowers

Komali was not the depressed, emotional boy he used to be. He didn't lock himself in his room all day just so he could hug Din's Pearl and sleep. But that didn't mean he didn't feel sad every so often. Especially when it came to Medli. Medli, the newly appointed Sage of Earth, his best friend, and his secret crush. But the young Rito girl had no time for friendship or games nowadays. She seldom left the Earth Temple in which she prayed to give power to the Master Sword, and Komali missed her badly. He remembered relating his feelings to Link, The Hero of Winds and Medli's secret crush, lamenting about his wilted flower he had picked for her. A week ago, he had even gone out to Windfall Island and hand-selected a bouquet of flowers just for her. To prove their uselessness, they had wilted the day after. Now he stood with all forty of them in his hands, looking out from a balcony in the Rito complex. The soft winds caressed the flower brown petals, rustling them. It reminded Komali of the harp music Medli used to play, carrying soft notes on the sea breeze. Komali took a deep breath, and one by one threw the flowers over the edge, to the Sea. Komali pretended that the flowers were musical notes, and hummed each 'note' as it cascaded to the waves.

Soon, every flower was bobbing in the sea. Komali smiled, masking his tears. "I love you, Medli…" he whispered to no one in particular.

A few hours later, every flower had sunken beneath the surface.
