So, this was the new Avatar... Tenzin had somewhat mixed feelings of the girl: on one hand, she had caused a great deal of ruckus and mayhem in his home town already - although perhaps not entirely by her own fault - and he could not entirely say that her ways of dealing with these things have been very Avatar-like. She still had a lot to grow.
But on the other hand, she had a cheerful, pleasant aura around her, was rather good-natured and with a righteous heart (as he had expected), as well as sufficiently polite. She had bowed deep when they first met, and made a very good case about wishing to learn airbending under his tutelage. She did, also, rather like his children, and vice versa, something that he could very much appreciate.
They were sitting in the living room, with Pema serving them some of her wonderful cookies... when she suddenly burst into giggle, trying her best to hide it. Tenzin raised an eyebrow.
"Is everything all right?"
"Oh yes... y-yes, everything is fine..." The young Avatar took some deep breaths, then resumed a calm expression, and took another cookie. "Please continue."
"Very well." He nodded. "As I was saying, Airbend-"
He was cut short when she nearly choked in her tea. Bits of cookie and warm tea drops spilled from her mouth to the carpet and on her host. She instantly burst into roaring laughter, holding her stomach and wiping tears of joy from her eyes.
"Excuse me?" Tenzin frowned: he had an inkling of an idea about this, and he did not like it.
"Oh, you were so cute!" She managed between giggles. "Cute little airbender! Oh wow, I am so not going to take you seriously after this... sifu Tenzin... I apologise..." She wiped her mouth, still laughing.
The old airbender sighed in exasperation. "Are you quite done?"
"Almost, just one more... he promised to show me..." She raised a finger and, wisely, did not put anything else in her mouth for the moment. Indeed, her moment of calmness did not last long, for she soon begun laughing once more. "The first time you ever managed to airbend... three years old, ending up on the roof... all naked and-"
Tenzin coughed to make her stop. He was blushing heavily, and trying to maintain his trademark airbender temperance. He failed miserably. "I should have expected this... he always showed baby pictures to everybody... of course he would not have stopped now, even after death."
"He says he is proud of you, though," she smiled. "Would have wished to meet his grandchildren."
"Hm. Well, thank you." He nodded, calmed himself down, and managed a sad smile. "Thank you. I appreciate it."
