Unrestrained deep red curls tumble down her back as she strides into the great hall and took her seat at the Gryffindor table. A copper coloured curl fell into her face as she retrieved her battered mail from a fatigued owl's outstretched leg. She opened the letter slowly, seemingly intrigued by the content of the letter. Losing interest she dropped it beside her breakfast and started eating slowly.

Why am I staring at her... he questioned himself, reluctantly pulling his gaze away from the Gryffindor table. A teacher entered through the main entrance into the great hall and nervously scuttled towards the teachers table, reaching her destination she whispered something in the Headmistresses ear and after a shocked expression and a moment or two all the teachers had vacated their seats and almost ran out.

He let his mind wander on the reason why, but realizing he would probably find out later seeing as it was most likely a peeves causing trouble, he turned his mind to matters at hand.

All the food on the Slytherin table and started hovering in the air.

Grasping the situation before the rest of his clueless classmates, he escaped before the food could be tipped over and come crashing down on his head. Unlike the rest of his house he was not now covered in the remainders of someone's meal.

Glancing over at the Gryffindor table he saw her wand aloft, obviously responsible for the deed. He couldn't stifle a snigger at the shocked expression on his classmate's faces.

It was funny. Extremely so. But obviously the rest of his house didn't see that as they raised their wands and retaliated. He dodged all the flashes of light flew through the air, curses jinxes and hexes, he evaded them, almost getting hit by a body bind curse but reaching his destination.

The din had started to make his ears ache, the yells of curses coming together to make a headache-inducing noise that threatened to crack his skull, this was no longer a joke but a full-out fight between Gryffindor and Slytherin, Ravenclaw siding with Gryffindor and Hufflepuff fleeing or hiding.

Having made his way to the Gryffindor side of the room he started fighting along with them, he had chosen sides. Receiving a funny look from the redhead he was staring at earlier, who was also leading the Gryffindors, he shrugged and carried on fighting.

He was on the right side now. Finally. Traitor! A small voice at the back of his head yelled, but he pushed it away, knowing he was where he wanted to be and was not going to move.

"CRUCIO!" He heard someone scream and a red flash of light dived towards her, the freckled red-head who had started this fight, without even thinking about it; he threw himself towards her pushing her to the ground, and toppling down with her. The red flash of light harmlessly flew into the wall. What the hell? A student had decided to use an unforgiveable curse? He silently moved off her, after apologising for knocking her down. She sat shocked for a second before quietly saying,

"Why should you be sorry? You saved me. Thank you."

"It's fine. I know what it's like to be on the receiving end of that curse, any decent human would have not wanted to let that happen to someone."

She smiled at him, "Rose."

He smiled, "Scorpius." He replied, sending a few especially nasty curses in the direction of the voice that had screamed crucio. Rose grinned at him, also continuing the fight.
