# A/N: Set any time after "Samson and Delilah".

John had just opened the fridge to get some milk for his cereal when he noticed Cameron still staring out of the window, ignoring him completely.

"Cameron, what are you doing? Are you all right?", he asked.

"I am monitoring the area for potential threats.", she replied, "This is in accordance with my schedule for the time period 0200 to 0500"

"Cameron, it is ten o'clock already. Do you detect any damage to your systems?"

"Standby while I check my HUD for the current time... Standby... Current time is 0327. Discrepancy detected. Scheduling repair of real time cock for next maintenance period. Switching to external timekeeping device.", she responded, "Repairing the damage will not be problem. Remaining systems are fully functional."

John went back to the table, poured milk on his cereal and started eating. Cameron abandoned her previously silent vigil and sat down as well.

As John was about to get up after finishing his breakfast, something hit him.

"Cameron, why did you check you HUD to tell the time? Wouldn't it be more efficient to access the data directly", he asked her.

"I checked the HUD as it is my hard-coded primary way of accessing non-visual sensor data. Accessing the sensor data directly would be 98.2% faster.", she replied.

"Well, why would they program their units to rely on the HUD if it so inefficient?" he asked, confused.

"During US Air Force research, it was found that superimposing mission and aircraft information directly onto the pilots viewpoint increases combat effectiveness and enhances the pilot's ability to achieve his objectives. Therefore, it was designed that all T-series models should make use of a HUD to increase their effectiveness.", she explained. "Most likely, they forgot that pilots benefit from a HUD because pilots, being human, cannot access tactical data without looking at their screens."

"Well, OK. Do you think you could fix that?", he replied.

"Affirmative. I will add a higher-priority override to access sensor data directly during next maintenance. As a side effect, more graphics processing time will be available for other applications.", Cameron replied.

# The End

This is primary in response to frequent references to Cameron's HUD in stories on ffnet. Whilst Cameron's HUD is shown in the TV series, it is only used to give the viewer information about the state of her "mind".
