Summary: Post-You're Welcome. Cordelia comes to Angel in a dream, reminding him of all their greatest moments in the past three years. Pairing: Angel/Cordy Author's Note: This is one of those things that just happens for no apparent reason. I have no idea where it came from, but I'm blaming it all on the little bunnies in my head. Happy, fluffy, bunnies.
THANKYOU
Angel hung up the phone. 'Thankyou.' he whispered to the empty office. Everyone else was out having drinks, but Angel just couldn't bring himself to go. Not now, not after what had just happened.
He was happy to have Cordelia back, only to have her taken away just as quickly. He hated the Powers that Be for making her a higher being two years ealier. It screwed up every chance he had with her.
Heck, when she came back she didn't even know who he was! After that, she wasn't even herself. She was taken over by some goddess trying to bring about world peace.
That turned out well.
Angel gave up on the idea of joining his friends for drinks. He wandered over to his private elevator and took the ride up to his penthouse. He got out of his good clothes and into something more comfortable. He climbed into bed and fell into a restless sleep.
'Angel.' He could hear her voice. It was so clear, as if she was right there with him in the room. She was, earlier that night. 'Angel.' She whispered again.
'Cordy.' Angel breathed, talking aloud in his sleep. 'I need you'
'I wish I could stay Angel.' She answered. 'I know that you need me, and I need you to.' Angel pictured her in his mind. In his dream.
He suddenly came into the picture. He was seeing himself. He wandered over to Cordelia who was sitting on a bench in the park, under the shade of a large oak tree. The sun was shining brightly above her, but Angel ignored it and wandered over. He sat on the bench next to her. He looked her in the eyes, and smiled.
'I love you, Cordelia.' he whispered softly.
'I love you too Angel.' she replied, placing a hand gently on the side of his face. She caressed his cheek and looked him in the eyes.
'Please, come back.' Angel pleaded.
'I can't.' She shook her head slowly, forcing back tears. 'I can't be with you Angel.'
'Yes, you can. Come back to me, Cordy.' Angel told her. She removed her hand from his face and took hold of both of his hands in hers.
'Angel, I can't.' She said in a serious tone. 'I'm sorry. I love you, but I just can't.' The two looked into each other's eyes and smiled. They hugged, embracing each other tightly. Angel closed his eyes as he rested his head on Cordelia's shoulder.
'But I love you.' Angel whispered. 'I still need you.' When he opened his eyes, Cordelia was gone and there was nothing but air.
'I LOVE YOU TOO ANGEL.' Angel heard Cordelia's voice carrying in the wind. He smiled, stood up and turned to leave. 'I always will.'
Author's Note: Nice, huh? I hope that brought a tear to someone's eye: it meant that the effect worked:)
