"How does he do it?" Pluto asked as he leaned against the kitchen counter, watching as Jinx and Draco were sitting on the couch watching a documentary about myths and legends. He was dressed in civilian clothes but still had his mask on.
"How does who do what?" asked Shadowcobra, who was just enjoying a cup of warm tea and reading a good book. He too was wearing civilian clothing. He didn't feel like getting annoyed by Pluto today.
"You know what I mean, scaleface," Pluto remarked, "How does the kid get girls to like him without even trying?"
"Call it natural charm," said Shadow, "That's the only explanation. Now, can you just leave me alone?"
Pluto didn't seem to hear him, "I mean, I have to work to get a girl's attention. Sure, I get slapped in the face once or twice…or a few dozen times, but Draco just has to talk with a girl and they fall for him."
Shadowcobra sighed as he put down his book, folding a page corner so he knew where he'd been. It would appear that he was part of this conversation, whether he liked it or not. "Well, one of his redeeming qualities is that he's sincere with his words. He doesn't need to rely on lame pickup lines."
"Hey," responded Pluto, "My pickup lines aren't lame."
"Whatever," Ichijyo replied, "What I'm trying to say is that Draco doesn't put too much effort when he's trying to court girls. Most of the time, he has no idea that he's doing it."
Pluto rubbed his chin, "There has to be a scientific explanation."
"Not everything can be explained through science. Just, let it go."
"OK, fine," Pluto said as he watched Draco saying something and Jinx giggling. "Geez, it just comes easy for him, doesn't it?"
"What do you expect? He grew up with a lot of female attention. His mother, sister, his bodyguards…" Shadowcobra listed. "I guess he's pretty confident when around girls because he's used to being around them for most of his life."
"Guess that's the only explanation," Pluto reasoned. He then grinned in interest at Shadowcobra, "So, how about you and a certain blackbird?"
Shadowcobra bristled, "I doubt my own personal matters are of any concern to you, mongrel."
"Hey, just answer the question," Pluto said. "You like her, don't you?"
"I find her presence very appealing," Shadowcobra answered.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Pluto asked. Shadowcobra finished the last of his tea and picked up his book.
"You're the self proclaimed genius, mutt. You figure it out." He then walked off.
Pluto sighed, "Well, looks like there's nothing to do here," said Pluto as he looked around. "Well, maybe there's something I can do at my lab." He then headed towards the door before it slid open and he walked out of the common room.
Jinx purred. The bandages on her wrist had been removed and the scars were practically gone (Shadowcobra helped heal her). She was completely contented with lying on the couch, or more specifically, on Draco. He was lying on the couch too, with his hands behind his head, resting. Jinx was lying on top of him with a happy smile on her face as she purred.
"I have a great idea!" Jinx perked up.
"What?' Draco questioned.
She kissed him quickly on the lips, "Let's go on a date!"
Draco scratched his head nervously, "A date?"
"Just you and me! Tonight!" She snuggled up against him.
"A date?"
