Hey everyone :) this is something that has been in my head for a while now. I'm not sure if I want to just leave it as is or make a full story out of it. We'll just have to see. For now, enjoy :)

"An impossible goal is just as it sounds, something that seems impossible to everyone but is it still something that you strive for despite all odds. What's your impossible goal, Sakura?" "…I want to be an equal to my teammates."

Sakura sighed as she moved through the hospital. All around her people were hurrying around, but she was oblivious to all of it. Her eyes were down as she moved into the next room.

Her patient immediately took notice. "What's wrong Sakura? Did your mission not go well?"

The pinkette glanced at Ona. Normally the medical ninja were not supposed to discuss their missions at the hospital, but since Ona used to be a ninja and only had about a month left to live, Tsunade had allowed Sakura to make an exception. She nodded.

"Tell me about it, it will help you feel better," Ona urged.

More like the old gossip just wanted to hear about it, Sakura thought to herself. Nevertheless, she shut the door to the room. However, before she began, she went through what she originally came here for. "How is your pain medication?"

Ona waived her hand dismissively. "Everything is fine, now tell me what happened."

Before she could prevent it, another sigh escaped from Sakura's lips. "After everything, I'm still so weak."

Ona's eyes went from bright and curious to soft and sympathetic. "Sakura…"

"We met Sasuke again. It felt a lot like last time. He and Naruto fought, and I just stood on the sidelines uselessly. Sasuke didn't even acknowledge me. Eventually he was able to get away. We came back, and Kakashi decided to show Naruto a new technique to try and learn. Kakashi didn't really pay any attention to me either, aside from to assure me that Naruto will get Sasuke soon and I'll 'have my boys back'.

"I know that this may come off as whiny, but I've been feeling down ever since." She plopped down on the chair beside her. "I mean here are Sasuke and Naruto," she placed one hand far out in front of her. "And here's me," she put her other hand close to her. "Even after all my training from Tsunade, I'm still nowhere near them."

Her hands went back down to her sides. "I'm still just that tag along, a place holder to have a 3 person squad. I'm still just watching their backs. Kakashi still sees no point in training me. I knew that Sasuke was his favourite when we were genin. But after he left and Naruto came back, Kakashi just turned all of his attention to Naruto; I don't think I ever entered his mind."

"Sakura…," Ona said softly.

"I don't want to just be that person who stands in the sidelines, whose only role is to comfort Naruto when he's feeling down and be one of his precious people."

Just then Ona began to cough violently. Sakura rushed over, her rant forgotten. "Ona!"

The coughing stopped and it was Ona's turn to sigh. "I look forward to the day when this illness stops and I can go out and be the picture of health again."

"Ona…," Sakura started to say.

"Oh child, I know that everyone expects me to die from this illness. Everyone thinks I only have a month at the most to live. But I'll tell you what. Beating this sickness and living on is my impossible goal."

"Your what?"

"An impossible goal is just as it sounds, something that seems impossible to everyone but is it still something that you strive for despite all odds. What's your impossible goal, Sakura?"

Sakura paused and looked down at her hands. She placed one far away from her, and slowly brought the other to reach the first. "…I want to be an equal to my teammates. I want to be as strong as them."
