Cordy walked steadily, keeping her eyes focused on the ground, not caring where her feet lead her. With each step she took she could feel herself sinking lower and lower, from the sadness that was pressing down upon her shoulders. Overtaking her.

It wasn't supposed to be like this. He was supposed to love me.

The image of the hard grey concrete began to grow blurry as she felt warm tears claim her face. "Fuck." She said under her breath wiping them away angrily. Looking up she saw where her feet had taken her, to Sunny dale park.

Without conscious though Cordelia began to pick up her pace to a fast walk, then to a run. She sucked in the cold November air, enjoying the stinging it caused her lungs; anything was better then the pain she felt now.

Pumping her legs as hard as she could Cordelia ran on, not caring what others would think, how her new flats would look; she simply let herself get lost in the sensation.

Then the sight up ahead brought her to a screeching halt.

Walking slowly towards it she felt her heart jump to her throat. Rubbing her hand over the rough bark she traced the letters CC+XH, letting her mind drift to happier times.

"Xander, where the hell are you taking me?"

"Cordy, just trust me on this and no peeking!"

"Fine, but could you at least do a better job at leading me around? I can't see anything through this blind fold, and I've nearly fallen seven times!"

"Will you stop complaining for one second, we're almost there."

"Fine. I won't say another word!"

"Thank you!" Xander exclaimed in relief.

They trudged on in silence for around thirty seconds, until Xander let go of Cordelia's hand leaving her alone.

"Xander! Where did you- OUCH! Xander I told you to lead me!"

"Oh my bad! You can stop now." She could hear him laughing at her distress and felt her blood begin to boil.

"You could have told me that sooner." She laced as much venom into her voice as she could, wanting Xander to know he was in trouble.

He ignored her comment and untied he blind fold, letting her see the surprise he'd made for her.

It was a romantic picnic, with champagne and candles. For once in her life Cordelia couldn't think of anything to say, completely over come by his gesture.

"Is it to much? Oh I knew it! I should have just-"

"Xander stop. It's perfect. Thank you." Leaning in she brushed her lips against his.

Xander reached for her had, lacing her fingers with his.

"There's one more thing I want to show you. I know it's really corny I just thought, well, so we could look back years later and-"

"Just show me!" Cordelia loved Xander to pieces, but she had grown impatient.

"Fine." Reaching forward he pulled back the small bush that hide the base of the large oak tree to reveal the message inscribed on it.

Turning to face her, he looked into her eyes showing nothing but adoration.

"I love you Cordy."

Cordelia withdrew her hand slowly. The tears of sadness that had been in her eyes were replaced with those of rage.

"Yeah right." she whispered as a cool breeze blew over head. As she turned and left she held herself and shivered, but not from the wind.
