Small in Comparison

:::...:::

There was something about Peter that always made him feel small in comparison.

Something that had nothing to do with the amazing amount of power the seemingly frail body hid.

It was more like something that made him feel like an innocent, ignorant child.

Something in the way those eyes would work their way right through him, with such calm, that made him believe Peter had the answers to all the questions.

Something in the way he smiled, with such happiness, and aglow with the light of the sun, that made him utterly joyful.

Something, even, in the way he talked to him, with something akin to devotion in every word softly spoken. Something that was undeserved and unearned, because he was never going to be the older brother Peter deserved. He was always going to be disfunctional, and broken and not good enough. Not worthy enough.

"God gives us a family so we can learn to love even the most despicable of beings." Was what one of his various lovers told him once, after he voiced his thoughts, while she got dressed with an unreadable expression.

There was something about Peter that always made him feel small in comparison.

Something in the way he kissed him, unafraid of sin and eternal damnation, that made him feel safe within Peter's arms

Something magical and blessed in the way Peter touched him, that made him feel light-hearted and at home. His home was wherever Peter went.

Something, just something, incredibly powerful that made him feel delirious with happy pleasure, when Peter as much as smiled at him.

There was something about Peter that always made him feel small in comparison.

"I love you"

"I love you, too."

Something that made him dizzy with love.
